Question about Curtis-Mathis CM32010 TV

1 Answer

Curtis Mathes CM32010 has no sound

Just about two weeks ago my TV just decided to stop playing any sound. All DVD players and VCR's will not play any sound when connected to the back or front panel jacks. All these devices will play audio when connected to a secondary source, so I know they work. The picture is fine, but I just cant get any audio and when I change the channels with the remote, it will take a few seconds to respond to the change. Other than these problems the set works fine. I have opened up the tv and checked to make sure that any of the buttons are not stuck from the inside, but still have the problem. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

SOURCE: Curtis Mathes TV Remote Control Codes for Programming the remote to the TV

I own a One-for-All universal remote, and my booklet says the setup code for a Curtis Mathes TV (without a built-in DVD or VCR) is one of the following numbers: 0030, 0047, 0054, 0060, 0093, 0145, 0154, 0166, 0451, 0702. I can not guarantee these numbers will work with your remote, but it is worth a try.

What do I need to connect an old TV with only one output on back to a TWC cable box, DVD Player, VCR and a Play Station?

Just connect the PS3 it also works as a DVD player. Do you really need a VCR player? You can get a converter box to stream the VCR footage through the DVD player/ PS3

Have a video cassette recorder & dvd/cd player. Need instrucdtions on hooking it up correctly

power off all items... do you have cable/satellite (this cable wire needs to be connected from box to the in on VCR) from the out on VCR connect back to TV...okay DVD you should have 3 cable wires (red/white and yellow) this is to be plugged into AV1 (on the back or side of TV) follow the colors... red to red and so on...note you should tune your Flat panel CH 3 along with the VCR (set it CH 3)... okay turn on all, get a tape, pop it in VCR press play... do we have a picture and sound? okay press stop.. get a DVD disk place it into DVD player press play.. using your TV remote we need to change the source from component/cable to AV1 in order to view a DVD. and change it back once finish so you can view regular TV. okay do we have picture and sound?

have fun enjoy your movie

I have a Sylvania SRD3900 DVD Player / VCR Combo that I purchased about 6 years ago. The VCR part is causing problems. When I try to play movies the picture is distorted with no sound, but it plays back...

The tracking needs to be adjusted. Sometimes it's a knob on the VCR, and sometimes it's a control on the remote. Adjust it for the best picture, and the sound shoud be restored.
Good luck, and hope this helps..

My py90vg dvd vhs player does not play vhs. The sound is on but there is no picture

If you have the DVD/VCR connected using the component outputs, then you'll need to also connect a composite video wire to your TV from the DVD/VCR. VHS will not play through the component outputs, only the DVD will and they probably both share the same audio output connection so this would explain the DVD being seen and heard while only hearing the VHS.

Only dvd plays properly but vhs will not show picture.

Most likely you have the dvd part connected through component or svideo cables. Despite the fact that this is one unit, like other vcr/dvd combo units it acts as two separate units in the same box. The vcr will probably not play through those cables. As you have audio coming through I'd imagine that the audio is connected using red and white composite cable. Connect the video on the vcr side with composite yellow cable or run direct to tv with a coaxial cable.

Lost manual...I cannot get DVD or VCR to record

You need to decide which set of inputs or outputs you want to use. To record, and watch what you have recorded on your TV, you will need TWO sets of audio/visual patch cords. One for recording and the other for playing. Let's start with the recording. Look for the Line in or video in plugs on your DVD-VCR unit. Some recorders have separate inputs for the VCR and DVD. Others let you select with the remote. Usually Line 1 is at the back and Line 2 is on the front. Your remote will have "recording source" to let you select, or sometimes you can use the channel up and down arrows to select your input source. Your remote will also allow you to select either the DVD or VCR for recording. Connect the Yellow plug to the Video In socket, and the red and white plugs to audio in., Connect the other end of the cord to the TV or cable box. Yellow goes to Video Out, red and white go to audio out. Recording from the cable box is much easier because you wiull always have a signal going into the DVD-VCR recorder no matter what happens at the TV.  Now look for the Video out connection on the DVD-VCR recorder. Connect the Yellow plug to video out and the red and white plugs to audio out. Ignore the other connections at this point. They are for RGB component video. Your DVD -VCR should have one output for both functions. Use that one.
Now connect that cord to a Video one or Video 2 input on your TV.
Test the set-up. Play a DVD or a VHS tape and try to bring it in using the TV remote.
Then turn on a program and try to record it on  the DVD-VCR, then play it back.
This sounds very complicated, but all that's involved are two patch cords with three plugs on each end - 12 connections in all and color-coded. YELLOW is always video.
