Question about American Standard Plumbing
I have an older American Standard bathtub/shower faucet that you pull out to turn on the water, left for hot, right for cold. It has not been used for at least a decade and no longer gives you any hot water (yes, hot water goes to the adjacent sink). Does anyone know how to adjust the hot water coming in? Also, I'm stuck at even getting the handle off. After removing the holding screw, pulling only turns on the water. Is it likely just really really stuck?
Verify the height from the shower valve to the Shower head, the instructions specify the correct distance if it is too short the pressure could be getting up to the shower head.
Perhaps the water pressure it too high at the valve not allowing all the water down the faucet outlet, there are set screws on the sides of the shower valve to adjust the water allowed in the mixing chamber.
Something is restricting the water flow to the faucet, creating enough pressure to send some of the ater supply up to the shower.
I hope some of these ideas help

at the spout near the base is an echeion ring. turn this counterclock wise then pull up ring to expose the neck, pull spout straight up.this echeion cap holds on the spout to the base there are plastic parts inside so be careful when pulling apart.
