How to lift a2 smeg cooker hob

How do I lift the gas hob on the A2 cooker. One of the red temp lights cables has come off when I was changing the bulb. Looks like I need to lift the lid to find it?

Remove cast iron pot stands and pull off all knobs and small timer buttons. lower the oven doors and look up under the panel holding the knobs and you'll see a screw at each end, remove them. you can now remove the stainless switch panel, (swing the bottom out first) you can now get access to screws at each top corner which should be removed. you can now lift the top panel of the cooker by about 5 inches when a pivoted stay should drop down each side to allow you to rest the top in an open position.

check first that you have power to the appliance - open the cover over the connection box and check with a multimeter. also carefully check that the connection box is not burnt out. this is likely not a fault with the cooker but your power input

SOURCE: Smeg A2A all the Gas burners turn off intermittently

I think it`s got a regulator at the back where it connects to the gas.
Get it checked for the correct pressure.

SOURCE: I have a smeg A2-5 oven and have been told it

Well it is very easy.

First and all diconnect the power cord.
The element secured by two 1/4" screw in the oven.
you have to pull Range out and go, emove the back panel and remove the element wiring connector, and you are ready to replace it with the new one.
Should you need more details please feel free to contact me. I can provide you wiring diagram and instruction booklet.

Gas hob is very difficult to start. have to hold

I've just had this prob on an inherited (just moved into new house) A2. Thought I was losing the plot as followed instructions to the letter re starting gas hobs. Got an engineer in to give the ecking thing a general service & told him about the hob. He said I wasn't pressing the knob hard enough. If you press the knob enough to make the ignition click, press the knob a bit further (it will go a bit further "in" honest). If you do that it should start like a good 'un (I felt sooo daft). Something to do with magnets!! Anyway, give it a try (this works for me unfortunately I've had the damn inner glass on the main oven go pop - yes, infront of an engineer twice in less than ten days. Knobs aside, I'm starting to go off this cooker. I want to cook to eat not have a "pretty" in the kitchen!).

Smeg gas hob issues.

Ghazwan,

Relax. The problem is in the switch that is activated when you turn the gas on. It has either misaligned or broken. The gas itself is not involved. Generally, raising the top of the burner area will gain access to the switch and valve. Inspect and readjust or replace. Oh, and disconnect the electricity before touching the switch itself.
