SOURCE: Dropped the Powershot A630 camera - still works

So get ready with your screw driver.

I am posting a link below... will give you an idea of how to disassemble a A650... The assembly will of course be in the reverse direction.
Keep the screw carefully... You will only need to understand a part of the whole process.

Depending on exactly which piece is broken, you can order the flash top cover and/or the flash head assembly.

I have a Canon Powershot SX130 IS and there is dirt behind the first piece of glass in the lens , anyway to clean it?

You shouldn't try to clean this yourself, find a camera shop that does repair or contact Canon, they will direct you to one in your area.

But before anything you better make sure the dust has any impact on the pictures.

Canon G3 camera just stopped working completely

Do you have a way to test the battery and you know it's ok?

Those batteries have built-in protection circuitry that can cut out or turn off the battery entirely if it detected a problem like a short circuit, etc. And it may not get over it.

Try a 2nd battery or the AC power adapter directly.

Also check that the 3 little pins in the camera DC input jack are intact, straight, and not touching each other.

Some camera's won't turn on if the memory card door is open or the card is ejected but I tested that on my G3 and it still turns on either way.

Ah.... and lastly... there is a little electrical limit switch connected to the battery cover door that disables the camera if the battery door is open. It gets pressed by a small plastic piece attached to the battery cover when you close the battery door. If the plastic piece or the tiny, recessed switch has an issue then the camera won't turn on The switch could be bypassed internally (not easy to do) if that was the problem.

Look for a tiny, thin, black plastic switch about as thin as a staple down in a recessed hole (slot) near the battery cover hinge. Try gentle pushing the battery closed switch "over" a little. You can tell which way to push by observing how the battery door slides into position as you close it. I was able to turn on my camera with the door open by doing this.
The switch is very tiny, don't break it.

If the battery door isn't closing all the way that would also cause the same issue.

Dropped the Powershot A630 camera - still works (LUCKY). However, need to use rubbers bands to secure the battery cover as front cover latch will not fasten (tab broke). Bought front cover and need...

Camera won't power up

You might try cleaning the battery compartment of the camera to make sure that the contacts are not corroded.

My Canon digital Camera won't turn on

I assume you've already gone thru the obvious check and proposed fixes covered in the user manual (battery replacement, contact cleaning, etc). I did all that to no avail after dropping it about 1m onto a concrete floor last nite - after which it refused to power up.

There was no obvious mechanical damage other than a ding on the
rear corner of the battery box door. After disassembly, seeking interior damage, I found a deformed piece of plastic near the door
latch strike that was preventing the door closure switch next to the "MENU" button from fully operating. Some careful tweaking and making a note to push the latch fully closed after use fixed it.

This switch must be operated (opened) in order for the camera to
run. You can verify this on a working A570 by pulling the door latch
partway open, while keeping the door closed by hand, and trying
to power up.

Getting a small plastic piece out of a door

If the piece is jammed (locked) in the door latch assembly, there is a manual release that you can use to open the door latch to see if the piece will come from free. The following link advises:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r622155-kenmore_elite_whirlpool_duet_door_jammed

This may require two people. One to pull on the manual release, while the other works on retrieving the broken piece from the door latch.

Another method may be to remove the door latch assembly so you can easily manipulate it outside the machine. This link explains how to remove the door latch assembly:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587965-door_latch_replacement_fdl_error

Now...if the piece is jammed too far inside the door latch assembly, a last resort would be to replace the latch. I hope it does not come to that, but it may be a last resort. The link provided will give you all the necessary steps to complete this repair, if required.

I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you require additional assistance.
