I cannot eject a dvd, the word 'LOCK' is appearing on the display. Nobody's pressed anything, and there is nothing in the manual about this. The system is about 5 years old. Any suggestions?

Try unpluging unit and pressing play at same time for 25 seconds that should reset it back so you can get dvd back then you need to cleen the lens because that is what made it do that in the first place good luck

hello
Setting the disc ejection lock
You can lock the disc tray to prevent the disc form
being ejected.
When the main unit is turned off, hold down the STOP
key at the front panel for 5 seconds
If you attempt to open the disc tray by pressing
OPEN/CLOSE key, the disc tray does not open and
“LOCKED” appears in the display window.
To cancel the disc ejection lock, hold down the STOP
key at the front panel for 5 seconds again when the
main unit is turned off.
“UNLOCKED” is displayed in the display window.
Note:
Before the main unit is turned off, DVD/CD function
should be selected.
If you are unable to get the tray of the dvd player open either the player will have a hole in front for you to stick a (I use a straightened out paper clip) into and press in towards the dvd player. It will manually open the drive so you can retrieve your dvd or there will be enough of a lip on the tray door you can grab it and pull it open manually. Then I would try unplugging the player and waiting a few minutes and plugging it back in and you might get lucky and it may never happen again. Good luck . Hope it works.
You can lock the tray and prohibit the unwanted disc ejection. On the center unit ONLY: While the system is turned off • The system turns on and "LOCKED" appears on the display window. • If you try to eject the disc, "LOCKED" appears to indicate that the tray is locked. To cancel Carry out the same operation again. • The system turns on and "UNLOCKED" appears on the display window.
With the machine turned off (not off at the mains mind you) press and hold the stop button and then while still holding the stop button, press the eject button. Turn it back on and hey presto! This method will unlock it when its locked and vice versa. p.s its in the manual
instruction book says: on the center unit ONLY WHILE UNIT IS OFF there is a button with a square under it (on top of unit) press & hold also press & hold disc 1 eject button (arrow pointing up). The system turns on & "UNLOCK" appears on the display window.
hey, this happened to me too. what you have to do is put it in standby mode, then press and hold the eject and stop button on the actual dvd player, the remote wont work doing this. this is how you can unlock and lock the dvds into the dvd player. why this is a feature jvc thought this needed im not exactly sure, but thats how you fix it.
