Hi! Follow these steps to get the information:
1. Re-create your mail folder hierarchy by dragging folders into place in the Folder list. Note that any folder you have created to group sub-folders but that does not itself contain messages will not appear in the Folder list and so must be created again.
2. Re-download the list of newsgroups from each news account.
3. Reset your subscribed newsgroups and download messages again.
4. Reset synchronization options on IMAP and newsgroup folders.
5. Edit any message rule that moves or copies messages to folders other than the Inbox.

SOURCE: self deleting emails

Actually they are right but they are only telling you half of the equasion. Here is what is most likely going on. I'm about 80% sure. Norton antivirus is a very weak antivirus system. The only thing it catches is the common cold. Now as for outlook. Yes outlook is very vulnerable to Virus attack. I use Thunderbird if I ever use a program for E-mail. I use Gmail or Yahoo myself but you can continue to frustrate yourself with programs like Outlook if you like. If you must use antivirus to protect yourself from Micro$oft then use Avast, Spybot 1.5, and Clamwin. You will need to configure them properly to get them to work.

There is another way. You can stop using Micro$oft products and download a Free Operating System that does not get viruses or get fragmented. It also comes with Thunderbird. It's called Ultumix.
If you want Ultumix do the following:

If you have a Desktop PC connected directly to the internet (not dial up) and a DVD burner I would recommend you go to www.mindblowingidea.com, click Ultumix, and give it a try by saving the Torrent Download Link. Then go to www.download.com and install uTorrent. You will also need to go to www.burn4free.com and install it as well. Make sure to open burn4free after installing it as well and select English. Then you may close it. Open the torrent file you downloaded in uTorrent. After you save the .iso file to your hard drive (this may take an hour or a day) right click on the .iso file and click burn4free and then Burn ISO. You will need a DVD-R or DVD+R in your DVD drive. DVD-R is recommended. After this reboot your computer and make sure to boot from the DVD drive. You may need to press additional keys during start up to get this to happen. You will see a menu that says PCLinuxOS 2007. Select LiveCD and press enter (this mode will let you try Ultumix without installing it on your hard drive). Now it will ask you some questions about your computer like what language you speak. You will most likely use Ethernet as your internet. Now you will see a screen to log in.

To try Ultumix without installing it to see what it will be like click on Owner and then type owner all lower case in the password field and press the enter key on your keyboard. Please note that it will run much slower than normal in Live Mode. When you install it it will run much faster. If you try the programs on the desktop and like them you may want to install it. We will get to that later. Open the icon marked internet and use it to get to www.hotmail.com. Get into your e-mail. If that works you should be happy. At this point I would like to point out that even though this system can't get viruses or fragmentation (unless you fill the partition over 95%) Firefox can be affected by some spyware and or trojans. If this should occur you simply click Tools > Clear All Private Data > check everything > Clear All Private Data Now.

If you want to install this on your computer you can also leave Windows on as well but you will be asked if you want to run both during setup. Click start and log out. Now click the root account and type in root all lower case. Click Install PCLinuxOS. Go threw the wizard and follow the instructions. You have the option of resizing your Windows partition and using the rest for Ultumix or erase everything and start over. Ultumix can run most windows 95, 98, and 2000 programs in WINE. You will also find that it can run some XP programs as well like Office 2003.

Have fun. If you still want to live with Micro$oft software reply to me again and I will walk you threw the painful process of protecting your computer. You will need to repeat this process I give you every 12 months or less to keep your computer running. You should also be told that in 6 months Microsoft is planning to stop extending service to XP users.

SOURCE: Windows XP ''Search'' utility disabled. Outlook problems.

Hi,

If you attempt to send a message that is too large for your mail server you may be unable to delete it from the Outbox.
First, try setting Outlook offline using the File, Offline menu. Wait about a minute or so or close Outlook and reopen.
If you are unable to delete the message while in offline mode or cannot go into offline mode, you'll need to change your default delivery location Try this, hope it will work for you.

Thanks

I can't delete inbox messages in Outlook express. and it's locked up

If you cannot delete email in Outlook Express and the program crashes frequently the problem might be because of corrupt storage folders - typically, the Inbox and the Deleted Items. As you may know, the email program uses the Inbox to store all incoming email, Sent Items for the messages you have sent and Delete Items for the messages that have been discarded. Now if you cannot delete an email in Outlook Express the cause of your troubles might be faultly or corrupt Inbox or Delete Items folders.
Fixing these two folders is not difficult and for that we need to find out where these folders reside on the hard disk. In the Outlook Express program, go to "Tools" -> "Options" and move to the "Maintenance" tab. You'll find a "Store Folder..." button; click on it. This brings up a small window with the path to the storage folders directory. Use the left mouse button and click to select the entire path. Now right-click and choose the "Copy" option. Close the Outlook Express program.
Open the "Run" program from the "Start" menu and paste the full path (CONTROL-V or right-click -> Paste). The Outlook Express storage folders are hidden files. You may need to force Windows to show them. From the top menu, select "Tools" -> "Folder Options" and then from the "View" tab, check "Show Hidden Files and Folders". Now simply select the Deleted Items.dbx file and send it to the recycle bin. Don't worry; Outlook Express will create a new one when you start it again.
If you still cannot delete the email after manually removing the Deleted Items.dbx file, I suggest you do the same for the inbox storage folder. However, deleting that will also remove all of your store email messages. So first select and drag all the messages in a temporary folder (create on the Desktop); you can then drag them back to the inbox when you open Outlook Express again and it creates the inbox afresh.

I have an EMail with 16 photos attached - it will not "go" nor can I delete it. How can I get rid of it?

Disconnect the network-cable from your computer, to block Internet access.

Start Outlook Express.
Instead of selecting the "Inbox" mail-folder,
select the "Outbox" folder.
Click once to select the E-mail message.
Use your mouse to "drag-and-drop" the message to your "Inbox" folder.
Close Outlook Express.
Reconnect the network-cable.
Open Outlook Express.
Check your "Inbox" for that "undeliverable" message.
Open the message, or delete the message.

Outlook express 6.0 outbox problems

This is a common problem with outlook express. The files have become too large for outlook express. I recommend blowing out all the emails. Try first empty the deleted items. If it will not delete. You need to find the folder associated with this identity. That would be in C drive then documents and settings then your username then application data (hidden folder) then identities. There will be a folder with a crazy name of numbers and letters. Go into this folder and you will see your inbox folder and outbox, sent box etc. Delete the folders that you dont have important emails in and this will dump that whole box. Make sure outlook express is closed when you do this. When you reopen outlook express it will recreate these folders empty. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

I have outlook Express 6, when I try to delete any messages in the in box it will not let me. I hit delete and it will not delete. When I try to move it to a folder it says error occured. I need to...

Try removing Outlook Express and reinstalling it. Go to control panel, select add remove programs, then add remove windows components. Uncheck the Outlook Express box and restart. The system once rebooted will boot wwithout outlook express. Then go back and recheck the box, reboot and this will reinstall outlook express. That should fix the problem.

Make note that unless you backup your email you are going to lose all emails you do not back up so I recommend a backup first.

Let me know how it works out.

Microsoft outlook express

This sounds like a virus. there are no settings that allow messages to double-up. Run an Anti-Virus that will check your E-mail aswell as the rest of your software. Hope this helps.
