Whatever cable that "Worked" B4 will be OK, ALL USB connections are the same, The PC end will be standard, however the non-pc "End" may be different for each device, it is the DRIVER that sets them all apart. In Vista try installing the Origional software in "Compatability Mode for XP" see if this is of any help.

I have a Husqvarna designer 1, I have windows vista on a newer computer with only usb ports. How do I hook up a parallel port dongle for customizing pro system 5 to my computer?

Here's one source for a cable: http://www.cablestogo.com/category/usb/usb-adapters/usb-ieee-printer-adapters?gclid=CPCq8pL-_LQCFQyDnQodFVMAbQ
I suspect this is only the start of your problems and that your software would really work best with an XP operating system. You may want to get an old laptop computer with XP and dedicate it to you sewing machine. Check computer shops that specialize in rebuilding and selling used computers. You should be able to get one for $100-150.

I've never seen a machine that requires a dongle that works with Vista or any of the 64 bit Operating systems. The only work around I am aware of is to have your computer reformatted and partitioned so you can run 2 operating systems. Windows XP on one partition and Vista on the other. OR Go buy a used machine from a pawn shop with XP and use it for your Sewing machine and dongle.

I can not get my singer futura ce200 to work on windows 7 64 bit or where i can get the 2.5 upgrade patch from singwer futura suport .com have a patch but wont work in win 7 64 bit even though it says so...

As far as I can tell most computerized machines won't work with Vista or Windows 7 (64). The only solutions I have seen work is to either have your computer re-formated and partitioned and installed with a dual operating system.

Or...

Go buy a used machine that already has Windows XP

Machine will only respond with desk top not lap top computer when doing embroidery. why?

Could be a number of reasons, as I don't know what response you are/are not getting or what messages you're getting. First, do you have the same operating systems on both machines? (Windows XP, Vista, 7) There's a patch available for Windows 7 on the Futura website at www.Futura-support.com that should allow the Futura software to run on this operating system.

Another reason could be with the USB ports. Not all USB ports provide the same amount of power, and the Singer machine and USB cable require 12V. On a desktop, you normally have to have the cable plugged into the BACK of the computer, not into a front port or USB hub. If you're getting a message on your laptop that the cable isn't plugged in, then this is most likely your problem. If you're using a USB hub, plug the cable directly into a port on the back of your laptop. And if that port doesn't work, move to another port, trying each one on your laptop, until you find one that works. That port has the power that you need.

I hope one of these solutions works for you.

I need to hook up my bernina 180e sewing machine to my new laptop with windows 7. There is no connection port to plug in my dongle. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can make this system work?

I am assuming that you are talking about the cable from the sewing machine to the computer...

Here is the disappointing answer. You cannot hook the 180e up to a Windows System 7 computer or Vista. I have an older computer with XP on it just for my sewing machine. If you want to hook up the sewing machine to a computer that does not have a 9-pin, you will need to buy an adapter that goes from 9-pin to USB. I bought one from Belkin, and you may need to buy it online. It costs about $30.

I have the embroidary software version 4 that has a dongle. It will also not work on Vista or System 7 and the Bernina dealer says I can upgrade for $400.

Singer CE0100 Futura connection error....

Hi I had the same problem sent question to Singer and this was their reply

"Do you have Vista 32-bit or Vista 64-bits? Unfortunately the CE-100/200 machine will not be compatible with either Vista 64-bit systems or the newest Windows 7 computers. The CE-100/200 will only be compatible with Windows 98 through Vista 32-bit operating systems.

This appears to be a hardware issue and not something that we will be able to create a patch to correct. Drivers necessary for 64-bit operating systems are not compatible with the CE-100/200 machines." so I guess we are SOL

Singer Quatra Futara 350

I know this sounds too easy, but I found that when I got that message, I had actually not turned the sewing machine on ... or the USB cable from the computer was not connected. Try saving your design under File ... Save as .... into a folder where you know you can find it ( or on the desktop ), then turn the sewing machine off, back on, and reboot the computer software.

Pfaff 7570 connection to new XP laptop

In this FAQ list (from PFAFF web) you find 100 times the same question and answer:
H402 My new computer does not have any serial COM ports, so how does it communicate with my Pfaff creative 7570?

You will need to obtain a USB Serial Adapter, which adds a serial port to your computer by plugging it into a USB port. Suitable adapters can be obtained from Belkin [http://www.belkin.com] and Keyspan [http://www.keyspan.com].
The following USB Serial Adapters are known to work with the Pfaff creative 7570:
• Belkin F5U103
• Keyspan USA-19QW
Please note that the Belkin F5U109 is listed as working with the Pfaff creative 2140/2144 (FAQ #H405), but it does not work the Pfaff creative 7570.
