Question about Acer TravelMate 4150LCi Notebook
What i found out is the upper left part of the laptop(beneath)...is extremely hot... what is happening?
The rivets holding the screws holding the CPU heatsink on the main board have come adfift. Refit the rivets loosly back onto the mainboard then fit longer screws (10 or 11mm). These will screw through the heatsink, rivets and board into threads built into the lower case. If you own a 4150 you will almost certainly need to do this unless you have already had it repaired under warranty. I reckon about a 80% failure rate in my experience

That is where the processor and fan are situated, so dont worry as long as it is kept ventillated the heat is naturaly expected

sorry, rest of solution is it may be the graphics driver, go to the acer site or the intel site and download latest drivers, or your memory is too low and causing sysem errors, but would need to know more of what happens at shutdown, eg any screen messages
check first around the vents and hoover to clear any blockage there may be.
If your system has only 256MB of memory installed and playing a game, then the graphics can take upto 64MB from the 256MB, not to mention what the programmes are using up.
Minimum memory rquired nowadays for basic usage is 512MB ram.
But normally you get a memory fault on screen, it may be an overheating problem, make sure there is ventillation and also that the fan is kicking in but not that often as acer fans are normally only intermitant not always running

f you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:
1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
So if your Acer TM4150 meets this minimum requirements, then you can install the windows 7 OS
