Question about JVC GR-DVX70EG Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Firewire stopped The firewire connection on my camera stopped working. I can view playback in the monitor, but cannot move video from it to the computer. I have tried a new cable, I run power from the AC adapter and I have confirmed that the firewire connection is good by using a different camera. I did not have software to install to slave off video from the camera before but was having success with the Pinnicle Studio moving. I cannot obtain video in the Microsoft movie Maker either. I really like my compact camera and hope I can make it work. I don't find any settings in the menu to turn firewire on or off. I've also tried an analog connection and that is not giving me playback either, but I had not tried that before, so I don't know what that would have looked like before. Thanks for your help!

Though you have checked the firewire card, try the process for your camcorder with a new firewire card.

Connect JVC GR-D240ek to vista laptop

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

A firewire to USB will not work. It has to be firewire to firewire. A JVC GR-D240ek uses 4-pin, IEEE 1394 compliant Digital Video Connector [DV OUT] to connect a 1394 cable (also known as a FireWire or i.Link cable) to a laptop equipped with an equivalent IEEE 1394 port. Please note that some laptops firewire port could either be 4 pins or 6 pins.

Soon as that connection as shown above is established, you can use Windows Import Video to capture / download the videos.

Other notes (from the same Windows Help link above) :
  • You can also open Windows Import Video by using Windows Movie Maker. After you connect ... your DV camera, and your computer, start Windows Movie Maker, turn on your DV camera, put it into playback mode, and Windows Import Video should open automatically.
  • You can also open Windows Import Video by using Windows Photo Gallery. After you connect ...your DV camera, and your computer, start Windows Photo Gallery, turn on your DV camera, and put it into playback mode. In Windows Photo Gallery, click File, click Import from Camera or Scanner, click your DV camera in the list of devices, click Import, and then follow the instructions.
  • You can also open Windows Import Video by using Windows Live Photo Gallery. (This options requires you to install Windows Live on your computer.) After you connect your...your DV camera, and your computer, start Windows Live Photo Gallery, turn on your DV camera, and put it into playback mode. In Windows Live Photo Gallery, click File, click Import from a camera or scanner, click your DV camera in the list of devices, click Import, and then follow the instructions.
Verify that the laptop's firewire port is 100% up to specs and totally compliant to IEEE 1394.

God luck and thank you for using FixYa.

What does the green/white wire connect to on my jensen vm9312hd? Says it is reverse +

Rear View Camera Input: The VM9313 features a composite video input and a green/white wire lead attached to the harness for connection of a rear view camera. If a rear-view video camera is connected, the unit is on, and the TFT monitor is retracted inside the unit, the TFT monitor automatically moves into the viewing position and Camera modes is selected upon shifting into Reverse gear. When shifting into Drive gear, the TFT monitor is retracted back inside the unit. If the monitor is already in a viewing position and in display mode, the monitor automatically switches to Camera mode upon shifting into Reverse. When the reverse driving stops, the monitor returns to its original input display mode. You can choose for the monitor to display a Mirror mode image or a Normal mode image from the rear-view camera.

Need assistance transferring video to imac

The Panasonic PV-GS12 will transfer video in video record mode and video playback mode using the DV connection (IEEE) Firewire port. PC Mode is restricted to memory card access via USB. If after connecting it in this manner if it does not work try this. With everything connected via firewire and iMovie running. switch the camera to PC mode and the import window should pop up. You may get a comunications error and if you do then switch to playback mode. The import window should stay open and you can control your camera with the iMovie controls.

While recording through firewire solo cannot hear input but hear

  1. What version of Audition?
  2. What version of Windows - or other OS?
  3. Edit View and/or Multi-Track view issue?
  4. Are you recording in Multitrack view, then listening in Edit view?  Each has its own hardware setup..
My best guess is that one of these thigns are true:
  1. You have not enabled monitoring
  2. In multitrack view, I believe you have to send each signal to the master, and then enable monitoring for the Master... but I can't remember for sure.

8mm Samsung camcorder: choppy playback

This seems like a tape playback problem. Can you look at the output of the tape in the camera directly into a monitor? And checking the tapes on another machine would also be good.

The fast movement breakup can be something in the playback circuitry of the camera. It may not show up in the viewfinder. Also yo umay try repacking the tape. Fast forward it to the end and rewind it all the way.

Horizontal lines on display but firewire and SD card work fine

Hello people who face similar problems...

First confirm whether it is a problem with the head assembly/ dirty heads.

Do the symptoms appear only on the camcorder's internal TFT side display or is it visible on an external monitor (connect using the AV cable supplied) and the EVF(electronic view finder) also.

If it is visible on the EVF, TFT Side display and the external monitor then it is definately a case of Bad video heads or the tape guide requires to be aligned or calibrated
