I HAVE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE KDL40V2000U. WHEN I TURN THE TV ON, THERE IS NO PICTURE AT ALL, JUST A BLACK SCREEN. BUT I CAN HEAR THE SOUND PROPERLY. I WONDER WHAT THIS CAN BE? IS THERE SOME SORT OF LAMP THAT COULD'VE BLOWN? I HAVE HAD THIS TV FOR NEARLY 2 YEARS NOW AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY. HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST TO REPARE? THANKS ALL IN ADVANCEI HAVE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE KDL40V2000U. WHEN I TURN THE TV ON, THERE IS NO PICTURE AT ALL, JUST A BLACK SCREEN. BUT I CAN HEAR THE SOUND PROPERLY. I WONDER WHAT THIS CAN BE? I have the same problem, but I have an extended 3 year warranty. The service company now has the TV. My TV was 28 mos old.

You can try unplugging the TV for a bit to see if that resets it. Next check if the TV was set to use external speakers by accident. Finally, try a factory reset. Please add a comment with the model of the Haier TV for directions for checking the audio output menu and factory reset.
I hope this helps.

(I had a different TV from a different brand that had no external audio port. It would sometimes lose audio on one channel or several channels. Unplugging the TV solved the problem; the factory reset option in the TV menu didn't resolve the issue.)
Are you by chance on the SAP audio channel instead of the main channel? You should be able to go into the menu and look at the audio settings. If you are on SAP change it back to main. Some stations do not have audio on the SAP channel.
Your TVs tuner tuned a little off frequency. It could be as simple as having cable box on where you have good picture but fuzzy sound, use the TVs remote to change the channel and then change it back to proper channel. If that doesn't fix you may have wrong tuning type selected in channel set up menu.
I hv philips 21RF vardaan TV ,there is sound on AV channel. and the picture is blinking. even some menu setting have changed.. i tried using the service menu but cudnt understand anything. 2 new av channels have come.. av2 and front which were not present before. sound is not coming even on the other channels but picture is fine on them. only on the av1 channel it is blinking., the philips technision had solved this prob once by pressing some code by remote and i don't know the system code
Your problem is somewhere between the tuner and video detector circuit.
The signal entering your TV carries: video, red color, and blue color as well as sychronizing pulses for color and horizontal and vertical deflection ( actually vertical sync. is derived from horizontal sync.) along with burst pulses to synchronize the color. After all these, the sound is an fm signal entwined with a pilot signal for stereo audio. WHAT a mess!
After the audio passes through all this, it is detected and sent to the audio processor.
If any frequency has drifted away from it's value then you loose the sound.
SO... your problem could be in any of the tuned circuits or in the audio processor IC (chip). Any component changing value could creat this problem. Most likely the audio processor IC. You'd need to have the set checked out by a tech to find your problem.
