There should be a "band" button on the stereo. you may have to press it several times before you get to AM mode, depending on how many FM stations it will store in it's memory.
ipods come with a transmitter that plugs into the ipod. it has an fm radio instruction manual tells you what frequency to tune to and how to select the station on the transmitter. this way you dont wire anything into your cd player, providing it has fm radio.
Another issue with detachable face units is the spring on the latch gets weak over time and the contacts will not be 100% reliable. Try cleaning the contacts between the unit and the faceplate and also make sure there is not debris in any of the latching mechanisms that could be causing the face to not sit totally flush on the receiver. By the way, cassette tapes...really?

use your user guide to read the problem related to error 11 .. most probably your wire connecting your changer witht he head uint is either cut or not functionall ... hope that answers the question
