Child Lock LED on solid or the Energy Saver Dry LED flashing. Tried holding down Energy Saver Dry for 5 sec. Its either one of those two conditions. Disconnected power for several hours no luck. Suspect control board but any advice would be welcome
I suspect that the cycle "button" on the control panel is intermittent. Try using a different cycle - If you always use "short wash", try the "normal" cycle.
This worked for me. It will be too expensive to repair, so I am dishwasher shopping.

It's a child lock. To turn off the child lock on a Kitchen Aid dishwasher, locate the Energy Saver/Dry button. Press and hold this button for at least four seconds.
Well you can please follow the below steps - 1. Locate the "Energy Saver/Dry" button on the dishwasher. The location of this button will be different depending upon the specific model number of the dishwasher, but should be easy to spot. If you have trouble finding it, you can check the diagram in the manual of your dishwasher for the exact location for your specific model. 2. Press and hold down this "Energy Saver/Dry" button for at least four seconds. Make sure that you do not release the button until at least 4 seconds have passed, otherwise the lock will not become disabled. 3. Check to make sure that the child lock indicator light has turned off. If this light is no longer on, this means you were successful at turning off the child lock. If the light is still on, repeat the process, but try to press and hold the "Energy Saver/Dry" button for a few seconds longer. If it still doesn't work, there may be a more complicated issue with your dishwasher. Consult your manual, or call to the manufacturer or repair man to determine if there is another problem with your dishwasher.
Most of the dishwasher in this series have an energy saver dry button. Hold this button in for four seconds and it should unlock the child safety lock. Does not work, try again for 30 seconds. Does not work. We have problem. If your model does not have an energy safer button, then type in the model number and you should be able to find the manual online and open the same to find out how to unlock the child safety lock. If all fails then you need an Electronic control board assembly, about $86 for your model, plus shipping from repair clinic.com. If you are at all handy, this is easy repair. Make sure you turn off the breaker or remove the fuse before you attempt any repairs.

No doubt the problem with your dish washer is bad key pad due to stuck button(s). The user interface you found in the technical data does not exist and what Whirlpool meant under this name only Whirlpool knows. They do not sell the key pad separate and that?s why you have to buy the complete console. Wherever you found the new part if it cost more then $150, let me know and I can get a better deal for you.
