Seaget BlackArmor NAS 110 not booting

MY NAS 110 keeps on getting stuck in a boot cycle, the device starts to boot up, runs for about 10 seconds, then shuts down, and starts the process again - does this mean that the harddrive has failed? Any thoughts on a resolution?

Sounds like a software problem with your BlackArmor or perhaps a failing drive. You might contact a low cost data recovery service such as http://FreeDataRecovery.us

They perform online data recovery over the internet and also offer do-it-yourself data recovery advice.

Why won't my sylvania netbook which runs WINDOWS CE..but it NEVER gets to the desktop page...what wrong?

I'm not familiar with Windows CE, but I have had similar problems with Windows 7 on laptops.

Try keeping the F8 key depressed when starting it up. The F8 key should allow you to start in 'safe mode'. I would imagine that the F8 'safe mode' is also to be found in Windows CE.

Keep pressing that F8 key as it powers up and hopefully it will present you with a screen that gives you a choice of 'safe mode' or network prompt. Choose 'safe mode'.

If your computer then starts in safe mode (it's just a minimum amount of drivers loaded to start the operating system) .. restart it again and see if it starts normally. You may have to 'play' and keep restarting it and pressing F8 ..

You can also change the boot up sequence as the computer starts. This is usually done by pressing the 'delete' key -or escape or f12 key (it varies from computer to computer)..

.. to take you to the bios settings. Change the boot order..if the dvd drive/usb is the first boot up device change it to hard drive as the first boot up device .. and see what happens.

It's almost as if the computer gets stuck in an endless cycle of 'trying to boot up' which is probably due to software conflict, for whatever reason.. some driver may not be loading to allow it to boot up correctly.

Iomega mdhd 360 n

The following may help:

You can either use the management software: Iomega Discovery Tool Home : Read First
or
Instructions to Direct Connect to NAS:
Unplug the NAS from the router
Unplug the pc from the router (if the pc is wireless, disable wireless)
Using Ethernet Cable, plug the NAS directly into the pc with no other devices attached.
Restart the NAS and wait for it to boot COMPLETELY 100%
The NAS will request an address from the PC which will be an APIPA address (this is a 169. address)
Open up your Start Menu and type in CMD in the search bar and select the CMD program.
Type in "arp -a" in the cmd prompt
The first time you use the arp -a in a cmd prompt, it gives you the 169.x.x.x address of "The PC"
You may have to arp -a twice to get the NAS address.
The second time you use the arp -a I will get another APIPA address in the 169.x.x.x address
Take the new address and use it in the web browser just like normal to access the device

FTP not working on BlackArmor using IE or Windows 7 Explorer Share created, even public access enabled. Details: 200 Switching to ASCII mode 550 Permission denied

Check on BlackArmor Manager that the FTP mode is enabled for the folder you want access to.
You can check it by typing "http://192.168.1.66" in the adress bar on your explorer, enter your login and password ("admin" and "admin" by default), then click
storage -> shares
if "FTP" is disabled, click on the pen (modify) and enable it. don't forget to click "submit" ;-)

Hope it was helpful

I have HP HDX-18 laptop, Windows 7 Ultimate installed I installed Segate BlackArmor WS 110 on the PC The IPv4 Address :192.168.0.199 IPv4 DNS Server :192.168.0.1 I used: Programs...

I'm assuming the IP address of 192.168.0.199 is actually that of the computer you are using and not that of the Seagate. You need to determine the address of the Seagate, download this: PortScan
Unzip and run it. Start address is 192.168.0.1, end address is 192.168.0.255 (it should automatically detect this). The scan will display a list of all the devices connected to your network and attempt to display what it is. Locate the Seagate and enter its IP in the text box.

Can the hard drive be replaced by end user?

Most probably, however claim warranty support if you can as opening up the unit will void all warranty.

Reading T4 Device

Did you try to boot the system without all the harddisks inside (keep at least one).
This helped me to bring up the NAS-T4 up again.
