A faded line prints across the page

My printer has just recently begun casting a faded line across the prints. I checked the toner levels, and they're all okay, and it seems to be all of the colors except black that are having a problem. Basically, the line is printed about 2/3 of the way into the page, and runs down the entire print (vertical, so it's like there's a spot somewhere?). Black is fine. I can print a whole page of text and there's nothing wrong with it. It's when I print in color that there's a problem. I've tried printing out pages of each of the colors individually, and it doesn't seem that one color is better or worse than the others. Although black is okay.

Our 2430 has a 1/16 inch wide light stripe located 2/3 across page from left to right and extending from top to bottom. This printer is very nearly new. We have changed cartridges.

The imaging bar has speck of dust on it.
Turn printer OFF.
Open the printer. Pull out the transfer roller. Should have a big green handle. Do not touch the roller.
Look inside for a shiny rectangular block about 5inches x 0.5 inch.
This is the imaging bar. Using a lint free cloth with no chemical and no water, gently wipe this bar to remove any specks of dust/paper specks.
Put roller back.
Close the printer.
Turn printer ON.
Problem fixed.

To Lolita: Thai is a laser printer not an inkjet, thus no nozzle to clean.

Bless polebark! it worked. We have lived with that stupid line for months and 60 seconds and the hand towel from my bathroom completely fixed the problem! A lint free cloth as he suggested would probably be better though.

Thanks to polebark! The dust seemed to be the problem, or at least it has made the prints MUCH better!

Hi, Try cleaning the nozzle head from the color cartridge. If still doesn't work, then try a good color ink cartridge to pinpoint whether it's the cartridge head or the particular color ink cartridge. If none of those work, you might need to replace the printer head. This faded line has to do with the printer head or the nozzle head connection with each other. Good Luck Lolita

First print line print fades away across page,

The page size is off. Try readjusting it in your "printing preferences". Otherwise, if it is new, back to the store for a replacement. It really should not do that.

Poor quality photos

Usually indicates poor toner. Have you had your toner replaced recently. Refilled toners are notorious for this.
I have had this problem before....replaced toners with a good supplier or manufacturer. Problem solved.

Consistent, faded and streaking vertical lines across entire page, from top to bottom.

Toner issue getting to drum - use gen toner cart.

or Drum blade stuffed (lines are down page fro top to bottom- replace drum assy

Drum has been exposed to light faint or blank across copies repeated 4 times down page - replace drum assy

or upper fuser roller stuffed, down page, smudgy print -  replace fuser

LSU(laser) or boards rarely cause issues
