Hello! I have a Kenwood VR 6070 6.1 channel receiver. I've finally been able to fully hook it up in a house and see what it can do. I threw in a DTS dvd earlier and noticed nothing happening in the surrounds. I went to the test tone and still didn't get anything from the surrounds. So, I began to check things on the speaker wiring arrangements. I disconnected the surrounds and the center channel. I first hooked the surround speakers into the center channel output on the back of the receiver. I ran the test tone and surrounds had no problems when each of them was connected as a center channel. After that, I connected the center channel as the surround right and surround left and ran the test tone. I got the tone from the center channel in both situations. I know the speakers and wires are intact, it just seems like something is not happening on the receiver.

SOURCE: Kenwood VR6070 speaker/amp problems

unit needs repair. Look at the b speakers. Conect a speaker or two to the B position. If you have no sound than your surrond sound is ok and the unit is bad. Sound comes directly into the b speaker and not threw the surrond system. My 6070 has a cold start up problem. no sound. time to purchase a new one. to costly to repair.

SOURCE: Kenwood VR-305 receiver surround speakers will not work

make sure that all input cables are in the correct positon also make sure that any inputs you are using don't have a macrovision in them that will also kill your sound due to copyright laws and stuff but main thing check all wires coming in to receiver and if you need more inputs go to walmart and get a rca splitter basicaly its a 1 in two out connection to add more cables in the input

SOURCE: DTS Master HD audio problem

Hey! Make shure your amp and blu-ray player output and input signals are set to "bitsteam" and you are useing HDMI and optical connections. I hooked up my Onkyo tx sr 506 integrated amp to a Samsung BD 1400 player and everthing worked perfectly right out of the box. Perhaps your amp can"t decode DTS HD Master or your blue ray doesn't support it although i think a firmware upgrade may accomplish this. Put on The Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian which will DEFAULT to DTS HD MASTER 7.1 and see if it works. It's an excellent source to test your system. Picture and audio recieved 5 stars from Home Theatre magaziene and like i said, either your amp, or player doesn't support it or your interconnects are keeping it from coming thru. HDMI and OPTICAL connects and check your set up for "bitstream" Remember what Todd Rundgren allways said,"Everything will work if you just let it!"

SOURCE: how to hook up a kenwood audio-video surround

hello all you need is a good pair of RCA cables.

Use the audio output on the TV
run it to the VIDEO 1 input on the receiver

as for your DVD player vcr etc you can either run them directly to the tv as it will output whatever sound is playing to the receiver.

or

use the receiver as a video switcher and connect your components directly to it.

remember your receiver will need to be set to the input you use. ie: video 1 / dvd etc..

Hope that helps

Does kenwood VR-405 play DTS-HD Master

I have the 405 and a Samsung 3600 which has onboard DTS Master/ Dolby True HD. Out of the 6 movies I 've watched, only 2 have given me Dolby Digital. Bottom line: If the movie doesn't have DD, you cant get DD on the 405. I thought just about all blu rays had DD but its not so. Its time for us to upgrade!

Kenwood VR-405

more info would be nice. If you're using optical, make sure its securely in both the tv and your vr-405 receiver. I have owned the vr-405 since 2000 and i just purchased a sony 32xbr6. HDMI into the TV, optical out to the receiver, it sounds amazing!

VR-606 DTS won't work

All I can tell you is that "CD/DVD" must be selected as the source when using the optical digital input on the VR-606/616. I don't believe it needs more than one input (optical or coaxial) to output DTS sound, assuming the source is outputting DTS in the first place.
