Replacing the Ice dispenser motor on Kenmore elite refrigerator?

How to replace the ice dispenser motor (part # 2252130) on a kenmore elite side by side refrigerator with the ice dispenser in the door(model # 106.57789701)?

    Mine motor went out too. Not sure how to get to it to change it. They must hve problems with these as I see they have changed the part number.

There is a small door under neath ice maker shelf (literally) w/ 2 small screws that keep it in place,or a button that can release ice maker on the rt. side of machine. Good luck!!

I had the same problem with our Whirlpool Gold. Which by the way was just out of warranty. The guy who repaired the problem told us that since there were so many replacement dispenser motors at different supply locations that there must be a problem. I think that the root cause is the arm in the ice holder is hard to move, and it burns the dispenser ( #2252130) motor out. Whirlpool should get to the bottom of this and offer free or reduced repairs. Motor # 2252130

Dispenser door opens, but auger motor doesn't operate for cubes or crushed ice.
I believe that voltage to the auger motor should be DC voltage. Yes it could be a relay on the board causing this and it could also be the Auger Motor 2252130

Ice dispensing motor (IDI Motor) inoperative
I had the same problem. GS6NBEXRS00 is 4 years old. Intermittently the ice dispenser would stall. Usually in crush mode, but occasionally stalled in cube mode. A sharp bang on the front of the door or the back of the ice dispenser from inside the freezer would get it working again for a short time. Went through the same steps you did. Replacing ice dispensing motor 2252130 fixed it.

I have a Kenmore Elite side by side refrigerator/freezer and just had the ice dispenser motor replaced a month ago when we first moved in our new house. However, our daughter left the freezer door ajar...
It would not hurt the motor as they are built to be exposed to some degree of moisture if the defrost does not work i would check and see if something is jamming the actual mech. up. In my ice dispenser i had stuff fall in from the shelf's and seized up the motor. Ice does not dispense through door of kenmore elite side by side
take ice bucket out, dump ice, clean with hot water and let dry ,,,, put ice back in and try it ,,, bucket is most likely frozen up thru ports

New Kenmore Elite ice dispenser not working but water is
Should be no longer than 24hrs. Is the freezer good and cold.. has to reach a certain temp before icemaker activates. Might take little longer if you put a lot of warm things in freezer or refrig. when you made the change. Is there any water or ice in the icemaker itself? Water may not be getting to icemaker call them back out if it dont work soon thats what warrantys for :0)

My kenmore elite side by side refrigerator/freezer (Model 50503990) leaked approximately one pint of water in a relatively short period (1 day) from the filter cartridge enclosure. It filled the drip pan and overflowed. We removed the filter cartridge and the water dripping stopped other than a few drops. The filter was several years old and should have been replaced.
