My friend gave me his sansa m240 cuz he got an ipod. but here's the problem. i can put songs on it w/out having any software but i can't delete the songs he put on it before he gave it to me i open it up on my computer and it only shows me the songs i put on it do i need to get any software for it or is there some way to delete it without using a computer or some other way to delete the old songs
The sansa has two USB modes. If you load tracks in one mode you have to be in the same mode to see them in explorer and also be able to delete them. Took me ages to figure this out. From the main menu, go to Settings then select USB and toggle between "MSC" and "Auto Detect". You should then be able to see the hidden tracks. I have firmware 2.2.5A installed so you might want to check that too.
I now only use the Sansa in MSC mode as it seems to crash Winamp if I use it in Autodetect.

Go to realplayer and select the type of media player you have. Then click "view" and it should upload all of your songs. then click the songs you want to delete by pushing the delete button.

The songs that you put in it only show up because they are from your computer. That means that if you want to delete your friends songs you have to use his computer to delete his songs. Instructions: Plug in your Sandisk m240 to your friends computer and then go to the start menu and go to 'my computer' when you open up my computer an icon saying 'Sandisk m240'will be there and then when you open that up songs will appear then you may delete your friends songs

As for me I had added songs to my sanza mp3 player last year with no problems but my pc crashed recently and I had to restore my system. Now I can still add some songs to the mp3 player but I cannot erase the old songs from it.

cant delete songs need to change my usb connection but my screen is broken
I used to use win explorer to drag and drop songs onto my sansa m240. My new computer will not recognize the songs that are in it and I can't get them out. The old computer is dead and buryed. I have tried win media player and my computer and explorer, none of them know that there are songs in the player. Can I reformat this player and load original software (where would I get it?), because I can't think of any other fixes.
I have songs on my device that do not so up when I open with windows. Why is this? And also how do I remove selected songs from my device?

ScanDisk Sansa m240 reads no files:
This player when switched on reads u have no space u need to free atleast 8mb, and it also reads no files found. I can't format it, i cant either see or read the files on it. when i open it on the computer the window is blank but when u check the properties 800mb are in use. so what is the problem.
