My monitor is 4 years old. When working on the computer, the screen will go black with the power light still green. I have taken it back to BestBuy and it worked, but when I went home it did the same thing....so....I took it to school and it also went black. (different tower) The information I was currently working on was still there....the screen was just black. The only thing I can figure the reason why it didn't do it was at BestBuy was that I wasn't working on the computer...changing screens.

Re:
This is not quite clear.
You say no image at home or at school
but worked at the store
Did you see it working at the store?
Check the cord sonnector for bent pins and or replace the cord- then come back

Sounds like an Inverter problem. I hacked mine into the case after this happened. Running it off of the Power supply now that I figured out the pin outs for the video power.
get a bright light or torch and shine it on the screem if you see any faint image then the problem lies with your backlight, sometimes connectors come loose and thats your best hope. if you have a warranty of any kind its time to use it.
Your first step in troubleshooting this problem is to plug in another monitor to your computer. If you are having the same problem it is related to your computer. If the second monitor works fine then your original monitor is shot.
Hi this is the way how to examine
what's wrong with your LCD monitors. After you turned it on and the screen went black, you have to check that if you can see the image on the screen or
not by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best
angle to the screen and take a look very closely. If you can see the icons or
any image, there will be a minor problem. This is because of the lamps inside
screen. Some of them were broken and it is very easy to replace. If you cannot
see anything on the screen, there'll be some problems with inverter board. If you
have soldering tool and want to fix it by yourself, check the caps first. It
may cause this problem. Some caps might show leaking or burn spot on the board
because of too high temp. If you don't have soldering tool, you better go get a
technician to do so.
Hope this help!! If anything I can help you with, feel free to let me know. Thank
you,
Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages. Good Luck!
i suggest that you buy a new monitor coz your current monitor is too old...there's some electric component is weaken...its better to buy new than to repair the old one..
I have the same problem except it usually happens after Ive left my computer idle for a while... i.e . Overnight, I usually turn off the monitor and I hit the button after I come back to turn it on. I get the same flashing light for several minutes. This has been a problem for several months, but only recenly have i gotten the same error message you mentioned. Each time ive booted the computer up cold or restarted it has worked fine but this time it took longer along with displaying the message:
Top Left to Right: SH770 P001
Bottom Left to Right: AU M170EN05
Anyone else who can clear this up?
