Re:
The freezing, if you say there are no registry problems, could be a spyware or trojan running in the back ground.
although you say you have norton it doesnt pick everything up, and some trojans cannot be removed when the pc is running normally so the best thing to do is start the notebook in safe mode (F8) on boot up and select start windows in safe mode) and run both the below programmes.
They are both free and free updating, the registry cleaner programme to download first clears any unused or irrelevant registry files, the second is an anti spyware removal programme to check for things norton has missed.

Another problem could be corrupt or conflicting drivers so ensure all you drivers are upto date on the Acer website.
I own two Acer laptops and they run hot but as long as the vents are clear there shouldnt be a problem, the only other thing that may cause freezing is the graphics drivers as a Ferrari has a dedicated grahics card, check for a new driver and see if any change.I own two Acer laptops and they run hot but as long as the vents are clear there shouldnt be a problem, the only other thing that may cause freezing is the graphics drivers as a Ferrari has a dedicated grahics card, check for a new driver and see if any change.

Hi, Turn the laptop upside down, the optical drive (CD rom) will now be on the left hand side, near the back of the laptop you will a release catch which is spring loaded, push that catch and slide the optical drive out of the laptop.
If you need the manual you can get it here for the Ferrari 3000 series >>>>>>

This is a hardware problem and you will need to replace the drive. The hinge screws need to be removed in order for the keypad to lift up. Under the keypad should have at least 2 screws holding the dvd rom. Remove them. If you turn over the laptop, check to see if there are any screws needing to be removed before taking out the drive.
If the connection and physical size of the drive of the ferrari 3400 dvd drive is the same as this, it should work as a replacement.
Make sure you check the port of the dvd drives that they are the same, as you don't want to force it and bend any pins.
