Question about Samsung SP-R4232 42 in. Plasma HDTV

1 Answer

Red and blue specks

I've had my 42 plasma for about a year and a half. there are tiny blue and red specks that first started on the right side of the screen. after about 4 mos they've now moved throughout half of the screen.you can see it pretty well when there is a black backround. checked my connections. everything seems to be tight.. I'll be crushed if this thing is bad. no warranty.... thanks..

Some pixels may have burned out. i'd call the manufacturer and see if tech support cant help you out. but it sounds like a pixel problem

Right half of screen black with thin blue line top to bottom about another line inch over another thin line starting blue then red getting thiner to bottom

This is a very common problem with this Panasonic set where half the right side is bad and the other half is good. This has been traced to a general plasma panel defect in the manufacturing precess. The panel lasts only about 1.5 years and they go bad. The only solution is to replace the plasma panel. The charges for the cost and labor will double the original prize of the TV set.Good luck.

if you can still see the picture its most likely the control board that's going bad, you will still need a tech out to fix the issue.

Lg 42px4dv - speckly screen

I had the same problem with mine, LG techs came out to my place and upgraded the software and the problem went away. I had mine for nearly a year when it started, supposedly is it quite common. Anyway, dont worry too much about it as easily fixed. I have been very happy with my TV and have used it everyday for 16 months. Just want a higher resolution TV now.

Hyundai 42 inch plasma tv

Mine's out, too. Red Horizontal bars Left and Right, picture goes in and out(meaning fuzzy-no picture) on Left half and the TV tuner is gone, I can play DVD with half of a screen most of the time, occasionally the whole screen.

I should have returned my "returnable model" three years ago when I noticed Wal-Mart was NOT accepting returns when purchased after a certain date (I had purchased just before that date) Big, Big, OOPS!!

Repair estimate starts at $800, not guaranteed, and that does NOT include repairing the TV tuner. Ouch, Ouch, Ouch.

I see Hyundai stopped selling these units... anyone in the Chicago area that wants it for parts, let me know.
