Are you using proper laser envelopes? The machine should also be set on envelope mode (When you put your envelopes on the bypass tray the machine should ask what kind of paper you have put in there - just select envelopes).

We have a Laser Jet Pro CM1415. It wrinkles linen envelopes when printing. Is there a quick fix (adjustment etc.)? It prints slick envelopes OK.

Hello,

that printer is really not designed to print on those envelopes but the wrinkling is usually caused by to much moisture in the envelope or paper stock. When the printer heats the print stock to bond the toner to the paper in the fuser unit the moisture evaporates and causes the paper to wrinkle. Don't know of a fix for it other than use different print stock.

How do I print envelopes in the printer Samsung SCX 4824fn? thanks

• Successful printing on envelopes depends upon the

quality of the envelopes. When selecting envelopes,

consider the following factors:

- Weight: The weight of the envelope paper should

not exceed 90 g/m2 or jamming may occur.

- Construction: Prior to printing, envelopes should

lie flat with less than 6 mm curl, and should not

contain air.

- Condition: Envelopes should not be wrinkled,

nicked, or otherwise damaged.

- Temperature: You should use envelopes that are

compatible with the heat and pressure of the

machine during operation.

• Use only well-constructed envelopes with sharp and

well creased folds.

• Do not use stamped envelopes.

• Do not use envelopes with clasps, snaps, windows,

coated lining, self-adhesive seals, or other synthetic

materials.

• Do not use damaged or poorly made envelopes.

• Be sure the seam at both ends of the envelope
extends all the way to the corner of the envelope.

Envelopes with a peel-off adhesive strip or with

more than one flap that folds over to seal must use

adhesives compatible with the machine's fusing

temperature for 0.1 second. Check your machine's

specification to view the fusing temperature, see

page 82. The extra flaps and strips might cause

wrinkling, creasing, or jams, and may even damage

the fuser.

• For the best print quality, position margins no closer

than 15 mm from the edges of the envelope.

• Avoid printing over the area where the envelope's
seams meet.

Place the side to be printed facing up.

Brother MFC-9840CDW wrinkles envelopes. Brother says this is "normal", and that the only way to 'fix' it is to open the back of the printer EVERY TIME YOU PRINT AN ENVELOPE and make some kind of...

Problem Solved!

I have a Brother MFC-8480 DN all in one printer, copier, fax and scanner.

I discovered that envelopes wrinkle because users, like me, didn't know that Brothers built in a no-wrinkle, pass through exit for envelopes, labels and thick paper.

Envelopes were never to be printed by inserting them in the front and letting them wrap around a HOT roller and get cooked and wrinkled. The way it works:

An envelope is inserted in the front and goes straight out the back of the printer through an exit door, completely avoiding the hot roll-through mechanism.

Take a look. On the back of the machine is a large pass through exit door. Just snap it open. You will see one blue lever on each side of the opening. Snap them both straight down to the . . .ta da. . ."envelope icons".

Put three envelopes in the front and they will print straight out the back, perfect and wrinkle free. After printing your envelopes, snap the blue levers back up and shut the door. Takes about five seconds to open the door and snap down the blue levers down/up.

Happy envelope printing.

-Eric

Envelopes

Make sure the paper type for the tray from which you print envelope is set to Envelope. If the printer doesn't know that an envelope is being printed, it will not turn on the "Envelope Enhance" feature. The Envelope Enhance feature pumps air out of the envelope before it enters the fuser and can prevent creasing in the envelope. However, keep in mind that any envelopes larger than a US Size 10 will most likely crinkle, with or without the Envelope Enhance

Printing envelopes on HL4040CN

I just bought a HL-4040CN and all my envelopes wrinkled, regardless of the size, paper thickness or software settings (thin envelope, thick envelope, etc.). Here's how I solved the problem....Open the rear panel and you'll notice a small gray lever on each side, which is probably pointing to "A" on the scale (A, B, Envelope). Move both levers to "Envelope" and close the back panel. The troubleshooting manual says the levers should be moved back to "A" after printing the envelopes, but I left them in the Envelope position and can't see any difference when printing regular or test pages or envelopes, except the envelopes are no longer wrinkled. I called Brother and asked them if there was any reason why the levers can't stay in the Envelope position, and they told me they could be left there if it wasn't negatively affecting other documents. Now, I have a great printer that prints everything without any problems. Hope this helps.

Envelope Feeder is not accepting the command

Solution --> Phaser 4400 Printer: Printing envelopes

Printing EnvelopesEnvelopes can be printed from the optional envelope feeder, the Multi-Purpose Tray, or Tray 1, 2, or 3.
Guidelines for envelope printing
  • Use only paper envelopes.
  • Do not print on the back of the envelope.
  • Never use envelopes with windows, metal clasps, or exposed gummed surfaces.
  • Keep unused envelopes in their packaging to avoid the effects of moisture and dryness, which can affect print quality and cause wrinkling.
  • Envelopes may wrinkle depending on weight and stiffness of the envelope.

Many applications include a tool for creating an envelope document. For example, Microsoft Word includes an Envelopes and Labels feature in the Tools menu. Be sure to:
  • Select faceup.
  • Clear Clockwise Rotation.
  • Select the feed method with the image centered and the stamp on the envelope to the upper left.

caution_image88x30.gif Never use envelopes with windows, metal clasps, or exposed gummed surfaces; they can damage the printer. Damage caused by using unsupported envelopes might not be covered by your printer's warranty.
note_image33x30.gif Note: The heat from the printing process can melt certain types of envelope glue. If the envelope flap sticks shut after printing the test print, tuck the flaps inside the envelopes when printing the remaining envelopes. Printing envelopes from the envelope feeder
  1. Insert the envelopes into the envelope feeder. For more information, refer to the Trays section of the Trays and Paper Guide on the Interactive Documentation CD-ROM.
    • Place the side to be printed faceup.
    • The top of the envelopes should be toward the left of the printer.
