I have an Iomega Storcenter ix2 that connects to my first computer but I cannot get it to connect to my second computer. I am using a direct ethernet connection, not through a router. The device powers on correctly and i can access my files through my first computer, but when I try to setup the device on my second computer, I get a "hardware connection failure" that the "device cannot be contacted." I know the device is working properly since I can access it with my first computer. Any ideas why i cannot connect with my second computer?
But I cannot get it to connect to my second computer. I am using a direct ethernet connection, not through a router.
so stop doing that
the router has DHCP, if you bypass the homes main router
that means IP addresses are dead and in fact double dead.
PC ethernet jack to ethernet jack
storcenter ix2, is not possible. (lacking lots of tricks and apps and crossover cables.
Confused dot com.
You say it is directly connected to your first computer, not through a router.
That may be your problem.
Try connecting it to the router. Putting it in the same network as your group of computers, and run the finder software on each pc.
SOURCE: Iomega StorCenter 1TB (2x500gb) no longer working with AFP
same problem, except oddly one AFP mount works & the other doesn't. Since permissions are limited in SMB access, I can't even pull the data off. Thinking of just pulling drives (mirrored RAID) and putting into new enclosure. If that'll even work

It means your harddrive is not recognized properly in NAS for that reconnect harddrive to NAS then check.
You can access your NAS in network with it's ip so it means network is fine but issue with harddrive recognization in NAS.
So make sure harddrive is working fine and detected on NAS.
Also access NAS with it's ip then reset all settings then reconfigure it and share. Then check.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.
