Menu Using the remote (original) or a programable remote; I cannot get the menu to come up on the screen. Everything else works just like brand new. This is frustrating. HELP. Blessings, Deb

  • Deb Hamil May 02, 2007

This is the way the remote functions, however, with the remote (original) or programmable remote on TV, the menu button does not bring up the menu on the screen. I programed the second remote to determine if the problem was in the remote. it does not appear to be a remote problem.
    Thanks

THIS IS JUST A SUGGESTION .... PLEASE I HAVE A TOSHIBA AND I AM NOT AN EXPERT ON TV REMOTES!!! MY ORIGINAL REMOTE HAS A SWITCH ON THE TOP LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE REMOTE. IT HAS TV, CABLE,VCR, AND AUX. MAKE SURE YOURS IS ON "TV".(IF OURS ARE SIMULAR) IN THE MIDDLE OF MY REMOTE THERE IS A LARGE ROUND BUTTON WITH "ENTER" ON IT. PRESS THAT ONCE AND ALL THE MODES SHOULD APPEAR ON THE SCREEN. USING THE 4 ARROWS AROUND THE "ENTER" BUTTON YOU CAN CURSOR TO THE OPTIONS FROM MODE TO MODE. AND USE THE "ENTER" OR "EXIT" TO SET IT IN THE ADJUSTMENT YOU WANT. MY TOSHIBA IS A PIP "PICTURE IN PICTURE MODEL". MY CABLE REMOTE COMMANDER DOES NOTHING BUT WORK THE TV'S ON-OFF, CHANNEL, AND VOLUME. UNIVERSALS WILL NOT OPERATE THE REST OF TOSHIBAS OPTIONS ... THAT I HAVE FOUND ANYWAY. LIKE I SAID ... I HAVE A TOSHIBA AND HOPE YOUR TOSHIBA REMOTE IS SET UP THE SAME AS MINE OR SIMULAR TO HELP YOU OUT. I WISH YOU LUCK. JUST TRYING TO HELP.

How do you get the menu/factory display off TV screen to get tv to work?

To exit the factory mode, you should have its remote control. If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. They can either give you a genuine remote control to your device, or can direct you, from where can you purchase a suitable one.
Without its remote control, no other way. Contact the authorized service center.

Acessing Menu with universal remote

We used a One4All model URC3021BOO remote. We programmed BOTH the TV function and the DVD/vcr button with code 0807.  To access the menu PRESS TV then MENU button then DVD/VCR button will allow you to change menu functions using left and right and select buttons. *TV button will access Menu screen BUT NO menu functions. * DVD/VCR button will NOT access menu screen but WILL control menu functions if menu is already displayed. May work with other sharp products, or other universal remotes? These original (RRMCG1330PESA) remotes run 38.00+ to buy new so try this FIRST!

I cannot find picture controls for my tv? No sound controls button either!!

On most TVs, all the picture and sound adjustments are made through on-screen menus. To get to them, you need the original TV remote control (or a compatible replacement) with the proper MENU functions. On some sets there's one main menu to work through, while others have separate buttons for picture and sound control settings.

Some brands and models of TV have a front-panel menu button. Maybe yours does. Sadly, though, many sets now have just a power button and need the remote control for everything else. The biggest trouble I find is that people get used to using the remote that comes with a cable box, satellite receiver or similar device which will turn the TV on and off but that's all. The original remote mysteriously gets lost (I've actually run into people who threw the original control out because they didn't think they needed it), and then you find you can't get at any other TV settings. It's especially annoying if you can't switch to another input, say for a game console or DVD player.

Hopefully, you still have your control. Good luck, and thanks for using Fixya!

How to reset the parental control code - I forgot the code and want to reset with a new one

This is what I found in the instruction manual on this and I posted it here for you. Try using 3355 for the code and everything else listed here. If that doesn't work, try the very last tip which tells you how to do a factory reset and repeat the first step using the 3355 as the code.

Here's the instructions from manual:

Parental Control
Parental Control allows you to block certain channels or programs so children cannot view
programs that are not age appropriate.
To enter the Parental Control menu, you need an
access code. The first time you enter, use access
code 3355. See "Setting an Access Code" on
page 33 for information on creating a new access
code.
You can set the following options to block
content:
• Channel Lock — Blocks selected channels
• Movie Rating — Blocks movies based on their rating (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17, and X)
• TV Ratings — Blocks TV shows based on their rating
• Block Options — Turns on or off all your parental control settings
NOTE: You can use Clear All to unblock the channels and programs that you have set.
NOTE: If the Block Control in the Parental Control menu is enabled, all the sub screens in POP (POP1,
POP3 and POP12) mode will be blank

Setting an Access Code m
After you enter the Parental Control menu for the first time, you can set your own four-digit access
code. If for any reason you lose or forget your access code, you can use the default code.
1 In the Parental Control menu, select Change Code.
2 Using the number pad on the remote control, enter a new access code.
3 Select Exit.

Reset the original factory defaults. Press Menu on the remote
control, select Setup, and then select Factory Reset

Menu on remote will not work

If you are saying the white square is coming up when you are viewing TV it sounds like the closed caption is on, try o turn that off first. If that is not what you are describing then I am lost as to how an original remote does not have the funtions on it that are required to navigate the system

Menu button won't work

The codes that are provided to operate the tv from a Dish remote will not offer full functionality with most TV's. The menu button on the Dish remote even when able to bring up the menu screen on TV's is unable to navigate the menu screen due to the complexity of the TV's set up. The newest receiver that Dish has on the market is the 222k which is a dual tuner/two room HD receiver without DVR that has LEARNING REMOTES that might be able to accomplish the goal you are trying to obtain. I hope this answers your question and remember to keep the original TV remote in a safe place so that you can use other functions on your TV as well. Thanks for using Fix Ya and let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Zenith h32h38dt 32

The "H" model Zenith TVs are hotel/motel sets designed that
a roomer cannot access the menu feature. Your best bet would
be to purchase a name brand universal remote which has the
menu button feature or order an original Zenith master remote
which would not require programming. Once you have a workable
remote which will allow you to access the on-screen menus you
should be able to program the channels.
Hope this helps,

Tv is locked

I had the exact problem...tried a number of things that did not work. My dog "ate" my original remote. After reading your solution I took the universal remote that was programmed to work with the tv and tried holding down each button for a few seconds hoping that one would work like the display button on the original remote. It worked. I have a GE universal remote and the menu/info button worked for me. Again, you need to hold it in for a couple of seconds. Thanks for the help and I hope my added solution helps other people. Claudia in Minnesota
