Question about Canon PowerShot A75 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I have a canon digital camera. The display is not working.

The display of my camera is not showing anything in the shoot mode as well as when i try to see captured images. This is a problem in both the video and snapshot mode. All the keys are functional and i am able to change settings of my camera but display always shows black.

The A75 was a great camera, but after about a year of use, many complained of problems such as the one you describe (search on "Canon A75 Black Screen of Death" to see :-).

I believe that for a time Canon was offering replacements, but that was several years ago, so it is likely that this program is no longer available (might be worth a try at canon.com, but don't get your hopes up). The only good news is that you can get a much, much better version of this camera, the Canon A590 IS for just over $100.

My Canon 1D Mark II won't allow me to change the iso, the metering mode, shooting mode, drive mode or anything else. It does continue to shoot but the images don't show on the viewer.

Try a factory reset through your menu settings (if you can get to it) or remove the batteries and any date/time battery for a day or so and see if it resets. If not and you can access the menu, get the latest firmware from Canon's website and do an upgrade or reinstall.

I have new Canon 500d but i can't work out the LCD screen to display my live view to shoot. The screen displays only the Menu or the Shooting Settings Display. i have the same problems with Rina, Thanks...

I wish you know that you need to press LIVEVIEW button marked red Dot to enter live view mode.
Further more it will work in P,T,A,M modes and video camera modes only.Still it does not show live view the camera has a fault.
If this has solved it don't forget to rate me.

Canon Powershot SD1000: LCD screen display

Hopefully you resolved this already. If not, push the "DISP." button left of the MENU button. Pushing it gives you three options: black (for discreet shooting so your LCD doesn't give garner dirty looks from fellow concert goers), liveview, and liveview with info overlayed (shooting mode, ISO, etc.). Good luck!

Shooting mode shows nothing.

Hello,

I just had this issue with my camera (my 15 year old son solved it for me ;-) ).

The viewfinder was active in "record" mode and the LCD was "active" because you could see a little back light but no image. The "playback" mode would let me review pictures in the LCD though so I know it is capable of showing information.

If you push the display key/button a couple of times you can see the picture move from the viewfinder to the LCD and have just a picture and or a picture and information.

So try setting the camera to "record" mode (lens comes out) and then push the "display button" which is on the back of the camera just to the right of the LCD on the lower right side several times and see if the LCD starts to work.

It could be that somehow the display button was pushed by mistake.

Shooting mode will not operate

Your camera has a defective CCD imager. Please return the camera to Canon in New Jersey and they will replace the CCD at no charge to you. This is a known issue and should be covered under extended warranty. Good luck my friend. Joe Weibel customelectronics.org
