We've had a Tally T6215 Line printer for a couple of years that has worked great for us, but recently started "spitting out" page after page of blank pages between jobs. I haven't changed anything on the printing program, so I figure it must be something wrong with the printer. Has anyone every encountered the printer doing numerous form feeds by itself?
Thanks,
Doug Stewart
When was the last time it was services? It may be nothing more than a dirty paper sensor.
Also, some Tally printer sensors require adjusting, it may be a simple matter of adjusting a sensor setting. That would require a technician with the manual and settings chart.
Let me know how it goes!

It is probably not the printer problem . First confirm it by taking 2-3 windows test pages . If it is coming properly than your problem is surely form the package you are using. Ask the system administrator to rectify the problem from the software . page length and printer emulation must be added in the software.
If the ribbon is causing the Ribbon Fault, they would not be very well made compatables I would suggest changing to one of the other brands available.
I belive the T6215 senses the ribbon turning by having a silver strip stuck on a rotating disk on the back of the ribbon, if this strip is not present or is not being detected it will display a Ribbon Fault.
You can check the ribbon to ensure it has a reflective strip by manually winding the ribbon and looking at the back side of the ribbon, you should see a rotating disk which is half silver and half black.
If this disk is not present the compatable ribbons would not be that compatable.
The T6215 does to have a fault over ride for the Ribbon Sensor on its own, you can only over ride all faults this may cause other problems as Paper Out, Paper Motion errors are also overridden.
You can enable fault override in the following way;
Press and hold down LINE FEED and ENTER for about 5 seconds untill the printer bleeps.
Press and Hold down FORM FEED and ENTER for about 5 seconds untill the printer bleeps.
The above actions enabls Fault Over rides temporarily if the printer is powered off or reset Thai setting will be lost.
The form width you are trying to create is wider than the T6215 is able to print on.
The maximum page width that you can print is 13.6 inches, if you try to create a custom size paper wider than 13.6" Windows will not show you this form within the T6215 printer driver.
As you can not physically print 21" wide you do not need to define a paper size this wide.
Simply create a paper size which reflects the maximum print width or 13.6"
You will then be able to print the maximum width the T6215 is capable of and also see this form in the printer driver.
I would suspect this is happening because the system printing to the T6215 is sending only Line Feed Commands and not Carriage Returns.
Access the menu on the T6215 and enable the AUTO CR function.
This will cause the printer to append a Carriage Return each time it sees a Line Feed, this should resolve the issue.
THe T6215 can only print a maximum width of 13.6 inches.
If you create a form wider than this Windows will not allow you to select this form within the printer driver as the printer is not physically able to print this wide.
Your paper may be 15 inches wide but it is unlikely you will be printing 15 inches, simply create a form whose width is equal to the maximum print width or 13.6 inches.
You will then be able to select this form in the printer driver.
Have to enable techmode (go offline and hold the line feed and enter button for three seconds)
then go into the test menu and do the fault override and turn off paper out sensor and then must calibrate the paper out sensor by checking and verifying voltage with paper in and paper out, this is done on the control panel.
There is two reason behind the problem (1)Power Supply . (2) logic Board. At first check the power supply if the power supply is ok then change the logic board.
