I don't know how it would have "lost" all it's data. More likely is all of it's data was "erased" or "deleted".

Take the card out and put it into your computer or someone else's Iway and see if the file folder is still on there. It probably is. You might just need to reset your Iway. You also might try downloading the newest software update (ver 1.3) from the Lowrance website. http://www.lowrance.com/en/Products/Automotive/iWAY-250C/Downloads/iWAY-250C-Software-Update/
This is not the maps, it's just the software for the unit itself.

If the map file actually isn't on the card anymore, then ask yourself:
Did you make a data card backup to your computer like the user manual suggests?
If yes, put the backup file onto a 2GB SD card and stick it back into your Iway.
If no, then you're out about $90 to buy a new set of maps. They come from Navtec, you can't buy them from Lowrance because Lowrance doesn't produce them.
Good luck

Cant get the usb cable or port to recognize the gps

This is the info from the Lowrance website
Begin with the iWAY 250C turned off, not just on stand-by. Stand-by is the default setting for the unit when powering down. Change the settings in the interface menu to power off instead of defaulting to stand-by when the power button is pressed. Connect the iWAY 250C to an available PC port. With the PC turned on and operating, turn the iWAY 250C on. The PC should make a sound recognizing a USB connection. If there is no audible sound, try another USB port on your PC. If there is a tone of recognition and the iWAY 250C is not displayed as a separate drive in My Computer, there may be a drive conflict. Change the drive letter of the iWAY 250C. Click here if you have a drive conflict with Windows 95, 98, or ME.

My apologies. I see now that you have an iWay 250C. Here is the manual as found on the Lowrance website.

My IWay 250c takes quite a while to find itself and reset... sometimes several miles. I've learned to be patient. (At least you are outside, right?)

Lowrance 250c map update

http://www.lei-extras.com/store/search.asp?SearchType=Unit&Unit=iWAY+250C

You need to buy the Navteq map update, but you can call them and send in your memory card they will update it for a reduced cost, since 75 plus 12 shipping is too much just for maps, you can buy a whole new one.
