Strange delay.
I'm having the exact same strange delay problem as you.
I fixed my delay when I too took my machine to your girlfriends. LOL!
No seriously.... you solved your delay problem yourself when you UNPLUGGED the power cord from the back of the monitor.
My guess is that when you unplug the power cord, the monitor resets itself. It's only a temporary fix, but, IT WORKS.
1. Turn the monitor OFF
2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor
3. Wait 10-15 seconds or so
4. Plug the power cord back in
5. Turn your monitor ON........DELAY ELIMINATED.
The delay returns eventually, but, I just unplug-n-replug and I'm good to go again.
Identical problem. Monitor is 18 months old.hooked to 6 mo old Gateway desk top PC. Running windows Vista Premium. Switched to a Compaq PC. Problem doesnt occur. Also checked NEC driver updates. Shows none avaliable for this model. Also changed cords from PC to monitor. Also went thru and changed all settings. All to no avail.
