Given sansa c250 mp3 player as gift , i have mac osx computer un successful with down loading songs .when i plug cable in and search for songs on list they are there ,but when i unplug cord and check for the music on the mp3 player there shows there is no music.I am quite new to the computer scene so please explain quite plainly as im not all that familiar with all that technical jargon .i hope you can help

I had a similar problem. My Sansa c250 would charge, when plugged into the computer. It would read that it was writing but the computer did not recognized that the Sansa c250 was connected. I switched to a different USB port and got the same results. I then realized that the two ports I was using were 1.0 port and idmedeatly when inserted in the 2.0 port it began charging and the computer recongized the Sansa c250. I know this won't solve every charging problem one may have. Changing the battery would be easier in some cases. Especially if they were sold like the AA or AAA.
If you are certain that all of the files are in mp3 format, then your best bet would be to change the USB Mode of the player - if it is in MSC Mode, chnge it to MTP Mode and vice versa - instructions for doing this are in the manual.
newtech -change the USB mode on the player away from where it is now. Turn on then press and hold the rewind button while plugging to the PC.
darama - you have to plug the mp3 player into the computer and refresh it through Bearshare. If you let your subscription lapse, you won't be able to use the songs naymore.

Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version). I think I have a solution. First you turn on the MP3 Player and then go to the menu. Go down to settings. Then, go to USB. Go down to "MSC" and hit the middle button. It should take you back to the settings menu. That means you successfully changed that setting. Now plug the MP3 Player back into the computer and open up "My Computer." It should show up. ive had this same problemo. you cant use the media converter to drag and drop songs. you have to download your songs or rip them onto windows media player. you plug in the sansa and then when its recognized there will be an area on the right hand side where you drag the songs and they appear on sansa.
