Question about Insignia 32" 720p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV

Open Question

Both my dvd players only play black and white on new lcd hd tv

I bought a new 46" samsung 630 high def lcd tv. Both of my old dvd players that work in color on our other tv's, will only work in black and white on the new tv. We have not had a cable service plugged in yet, but we have plugged in a camera to the tv and viewed photo's in color. There is also a color test in the tv menu that worked out fine.

SOURCE: Full screen view

in order to get the full HD experience you should be using HDMI cables. if you're using the white/red/yellow cables then your HD channels will not broadcast in full HD and you'll be stuck with the annoying black things around your screen

make sure your cable box is hd compatible, also depending on the cable box you may have to go through your settings and change the resolution and also change your settings through the menu's on the tv itself. what type of cable box do you have? is it a satellite box? which provider?

SOURCE: black and white grainy output to new samsung lcd

Your DVD player is using a PAL or NTSC variant which is not supported by your display. Somewhere hidden in the depths of the options in the DVD player should be an option to change the composite output type.

How to set up to using hdmi

#1 your tv would need to be hdmi compatable (have the appropriate plug on the back where all the inputs are located). For example I have a 60" Lcd HDTV and an xbox360 I attached the standard a/v (audio/video) red, white, yellow wires to tv and turned on the game console went into system settings and turned on the hd setting to 1080i for hi def resolution. Another alternative would be to connect console to your dvd player (most new dvd players will up convert signal from 480i or 720i to 1080i hd) and attach your hdmi cable between the dvd player and the tv to support the hd interface. Something I highly recommend is the jvc th c50 home theater surround sound when I play call of duty it has enough to knock stuff of our bookshelves and ******** the neighbors. Happy gaming

1. Verify connections are color coded.

2. If they are correct, take out movie, press Play/Stop at same time on the front of the unit (not remote) to reset any settings that may have been changed.

Samsung lcd ln46a550pf3 no sound from hdtv reciever

ok your tv does not come with the very best sound, you have to get a receiver 7.1 or you can use the optical wire , that's if the system you are using has that option.

If this is just a regular DVD player, then no. You need an HD DVD player to play HD DVD discs. Now the HD DVD players should play regular DVD discs.

Hi-def dvd

This is not a High Definition DVD player, it does upscale a regular DVD to HD resolution, but that's just an electronic trick.

Also, Toshiba has abandoned the HD-DVD standard (did you find the discs on sale?), you'd need to find a BluRay player (like the Playstation 3) to play high definition DVD's.

Hdmi Issue

Most new HDMI DVD players use High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP)on the HDMI output. If you try to play this on an older TV that is not compliant with these new standards it will not work. This standard came out late in 2004 that is why your older player still works. There is also a service bulletin from JVC about upgrading the software on your TV for HDMI compatiblity issues. If you want a pdf file of the bulletin I can send it to you.
