Hdd password my computer was stolen upon getting it back it will not start up it is asking for a primary hdd user password ??? it is a acer 3680 please help

try reseting it through your bios, if your lucky there will be a way, if not, get a new harddrive

nope the password is store with the help of hdd.you must reset the smart condition on hdd , or replace the hdd more simply.

call the acer tech support or go on line a to www.acer.com and they should be able to get you need best regards mike

From what I understand, the hard drive can be set with a password so the drive can't be used in any other computer or even opened if stolen. It is different from windows or bios passwords, and no password unlocker can open it.

You need to call the manufactor of the pc, and have all the information about the computer handy so it can be proven you are the legal owner. They are the only ones that I know of that might be able to reset or disable the HD password.

the only solution is for you to call the acer tech support and they can generate a password for you to gain access to your hard drive and bios.

There is a freeware called Killcmos. You can find it using google. But this is no guarantee and could possibly damage your bios.

The solution is to go to BIOS and u can enable and disable the HDD password query item. U can disable it and u can run ur computer again.
