I have 3 motorola v220 camera phones on a Rogers Wireless 36 month family plan. All three, one after the other, have lost their camera function. We get a blank screen when we try to use the camera. Nothing untoward happened to the phones to cause the cameras to stop working. Mine was the last to stop functioning; it came off the charger minus camera function. I attempted several ways to activate the camera and it actually did operate and permit me to access the phone album for a few minutes when I pressed the smart key. Then it stopped again.
When we purchased these phones on the family calling plan, I assumed they would at least work for the duration of the plan. Naiive of me?? I called our local Rogers shop and was told that my options were to upgrade to brand new phones (and new phone plan, which I don't want) or expect to pay about $500. for repairs!
Seems like planned obsolescence to me.

Re: camera phone failure
If you havn't fiddled with the security code try restoring the phone and if it is not working then open up the phone to acces the camera connector jack or ribbon what so ever refix it after cleaning it will work.

It is easy to transfer pictures from your cell phone to your PC. There are several ways to go about the transfer. The first is to connect your Motorola phone to your PC and transfer. You Motorola v220 phone come with a USB cord and compatible software on a CD as a welcome kit when you purchase the phone. Download this software on your hard drive; attach the USB to your cell phone on one end and to your PC on the other. Open the "removable device" Drive in "my computer" and copy the pictures to your PC. Another way to transfer pictures from Motorola v220 to your PC is through Bluetooth device. For this purpose, both your PC and your phone should have a Bluetooth device. Put it on and an automatic request will be sent from your phone to PC. Accept the request and continue to transfer.
Method 1: Manually delete each one.
Method 2: Use Motorola Phone tools. You will need a USB cable to connect your phone to the computer.
Method 3: Factory reset.
