Red lamp light stays light

My mitsubishi WD-52725 screen was blue with almost an oscilloscope look through the middle of screen. When I brought up the tv guide, the tv guide looked normal except with osilloscope noise look running through the middle of the screen. Then my lamp light turned red and no screen at all. I thought the lamp went out so I changed it. Now the new lamp stays light around 5 seconds turns off and tv remains power up state for 1 minute then the red lamp light turns on and tv shuts off. The reason I know the lamp stays lit for approx. 5 seconds is I removed the lamp cover and defaulted the cover sw. so I could see what was going on. Any ideas would be great, since I now have the tv back cover completely removed.

    Hello. I had the same type of problem with Blue Screen Oscope looking. A technician came out and suspected the Optical Assy or Power Supply. So far he has to return to futher troubleshoot. My lamp was replaced about a month ago and this seems to be a new problem. Have you fixed it yet?

I doubt that it is the optical assy. it sounds more like a chassis problem either on the DM or the FMT board.

check out www.tv-techs.com
if it is a chassis problem it will cost about $250.00 plus shipping one way to fix the chassis

I have a mitsubishi WD-52725. the red lamp light was on and I replaced the lamp. the red lamp light came back on after replacing with a new lamp. Could there be another problem

Yes the capacvitors on the power board can cause the red lamp light and a 34 error code. The V26 Power repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com will usually solve that issue. The kit contains the upgraded caps and the CD with instructions for the repair.

if you get a blue screen than your lamp is working fine. blue screen is considered "video mute" it display that blue if the tv thinks there is no video. try to reset the tv by pressing - menu 123 then reset to system defaults.

Blue screen with Green Star-burst image in center?

Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.

For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.

Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:

12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected
