Our ViewSonic projector, which we bought only last May 2006 is having screen display problem. After only few minutes of operation the screen only shows 2/3 of the actual screen displayed in the computer then gradually shrinking. Can you please help diagnose the problem? Is this related to bulb? The projected is being used for 4 continous hours during Sunday only, for church service.
It can be a problem with teh bulb...you may want to make sure that the fan is not shutting down when you power off the projector becsue that may shorten the life of the bulb,...the fan should remain on for a while to continue cooling off the bulb....it probably won't hurt to have use another fan pointing to the projector while in use...

If you are running Windows 7\8: Leave the ViewSonic projector on. Right click anywhere on the desktop and select "Screen Resolution". In the display column, it will give you an option to select your computer monitor, the ViewSonic, or to clone the displays. Select your computer monitor display only. Shut off the ViewSonic projector.
If you are running Windows XP: The process is basically the same except you find the settings under Control Panel > Display.
you might need to turn off your computer .
then connect the data projector
and turn on data projector
then turn on computer
hopefully it detects the data projector is connected and switches windows to duplicate projection
On my P.C. F4 key in windows Switches the display manually to duplicate, alternate screen or pc screen only or projector screen only.
As I am not familiar with Apple this support article below might explain the switching of display outputs available on Apple Mac.
Press and hold the UP button on the projector for 5 seconds, this will display the Total Used Lamp Time. Press AUTO on the projector to reset the timer to 0. Wait for roughly 5 seconds for the On Screen Display to disappear.
you need to hold function down and press something like F1 F2 F3 F4 maybe twice to clone the screen display and make sure your projector is on vga and there is a secure connection between your laptop and your projector.
Really if this happens then you may want to contact viewsonic to see if it still in warrant. Reminder that most of their monitors have a 3 year warrany from the date of purchase. So make sure that you have your proof of sales/receipt/POP/invoice or what ever you want to call it ready. This model is old so they will ask for it if its a first time repair.
