Is belt disconnected? Is belt broken? Will dryer rotate manually? if so ,

I suspect that the belt broke. order a new belt Home depot has a good parts service or try other local appliance places. You will have to disconnect power first, Remove front panel to access drum Dont forget to unplug door switch there should be a plug front top right, in the rear on the bottom there is a motor and an idler/tensioner. install the new belt and under tensioner Yes the path will seem awkward and re assemble. Also now is the time to vacuum lint out

The inside drum quit turning. is there a belt that turns this and if so how do I get to it. I had the top open but could not see anything. The drum spins if I manually spin it so I know it is not bound up...

if you cant see a belt about 1/4" wide around the drum, there will be a mark where the belt was on the drum before it broke, remove front panel and restring belt around the drum, then replace front drum piece that holds the drum in place and then string belt around idler and motor pulleys and replace front cover

My dryer is a frigidaire, and when i turn it on yo...

The humming is the sound of the Electric motor that drives the drum to spin

You will need to remove the top & the front panel to repair.

First just remove the TOP panel only for inspection

On the top's rear side you will see two small brackets with screws in them. The brackets attach to the Top & the rear panel to secure the top on
Remove these two screws
Now go to the front & pry each front corner up with a flat head screwdriver between the top and the front panel
Spring steel retainer snaps holds that into place and will not break when prying upward
Remove the electrical connectors and mark them with tape if wanted were they connect to for reference
Now look inside the dryer and you will see the drun and the belt should be around this drum. If not replace the belt. You will need to remove the front panel side screws to remove the front panel to remove the drum. The belt tensioner hhas a roller on it too which will need replacing.

Reverse procedure to install

The drum makes a humming noise when it rotates i beieve it may have dirt around it how do i access it to clean it out

Interesting question.

Humming may be from the motor or incidental belt noise. There is a felt bearing on the drum where it rides on the front panel and this felt bearing can get dirty. I'm not convinced it would make a humming sound.

Tell me, what tune is it humming?

Kidding, sorry.

If you want to open your machine, generally speaking, dryer tops are held down with spring clips. To remove, pop the top by prying it up. Be careful you don't damage the finish. Front panels are generally held in place with spring clips and/or screws or tabs. Take appropriate action and remove the front. Be cautions of the door switch wires. The drum will come free and fall to the floor. Do what ever maintenance you feel needs to be done and reassemble. You may want to replace the belt while you are inside. I recommend you take pictures before you take the drum out of the cabinet paying particular attention to how the belt is driven through the tensioner on the floor and around the motor pulley. A cell phone with camera is particularly useful for this purpose.

Dryer motor just hums, doesn't spin, kenmore front loading dryer

Try turning the drum by hand with the unit turned off. If it seems fairly easy to turn, then check the motor to see if it has a capacitor (about 2 to 3 inches long and 1 inch in diameter with two connections). This capacitor is used by the motor for starting. Replace the capacitor. If the drum is very hard to turn, something may be jamming the drum or the motor bearings may be frozen (new motor). Hope this helps.

Remove the back cover.

Remove the belt and drum.

Place the new belt around the drum and sticky tape it to the position of where the old belt was seated.

Insert the drum back into the cabinet of the dryer and reconnect it to the electric motor.

After connected to the motor, remove the sticky tap and reassemble.

Job done.

Kenmore dryer hums/heats up, but drum does not spin!

Depending on the type of door the dryer has, is how you approach the access of these dryers. Mostly though you yank out the filter first.Remove the 2 screws in the filter housing on top. Then use a putty knife to pop the top. Remove the screws holding the front panel on. VERY IMPORTANT! Raise the front up an inch before pulling forward or the panel clips will break! Some models have a panel on bottom. If they do then this panel must come off first. Then you remove the door springs and back off the screws holding down the bottom of the door panel. Then pop the top and remove the screws on top to get the panel out of your way. Yank out the tub. Clean the junk out (send me the coinery) oil the wheels and Idler with temp resistant zoomoil from ace hardware. Use this guide to replace dat belt Kimosabe:

Dryer wont spen

The dryer only has the 1 belt that drives the drum. Shock Hazard Warning! Remove the dryer from its power source before accessing internal components.
Look for an obstruction in the blower which is attached to the front of the motor. Look for a foreign object stuck between the drum and bulkheads. Inspect for a broken belt. Inspect all drum rollers for free operation. Inspect idler pulley on rear of motor for free rotation with belt removed. Inspect drive pulley on rear of motor. All this can be done through the front of the dryer by removing the front panel enclosure.

Hope this helps!
