Hi This may help you :: Select , Settings, System tab, Align Screen to adjust the touch screen. If the screen alignment loses calibration it may not be possible to adjust alignment using the above method. Also, here is a link that may help :: http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=http--cdgenp01csdtoshibacom-content-support-manuals-userguides-su530093-ppce400ug20030916pdf&sliceId=pdfPage_113&dialogID=6730022&stateId=1%200%206728267

Have toshiba pda/e740, have no drivers for pc

Try going to the website of your Operating System (ie, Windows, Mac, ect). I've only used Windows , butsee if you can download the Activesync software that you need there. The e740 was only available with Windows Pocket PC 2002, and will appearantly not sync to Vista PCs, however.
I will try to check back in a day or two, so let me know if this is of any help to you.

Are you using a headphone or the Pda's speaker?

The speaker could be damaged or disconnected - try connecting a headphone to the Pda to see if the sound works.

Battery problem?

the problem is based on the backup battery and the Battery charging Electronic of the Pda. The only chance for you is to contact a Toshiba Service Partner for a repair of the Pocket PC. The Mainboard of the PDA has to be replaced.

Initialize my Pocket PC

When you initialize your Pocket PC, the factory default values are reset to the status as when you originally purchased the Pocket PC e740. NOTE: When you initialise your Pocket PC, all data stored in the memory is deleted. Your Pocket PC's initially installed programs are not deleted. Before initialization your Pocket PC, remove all storage cards. To initialize your Pocket PC, please follow the steps: Turn off the power Press the power button while pressing and holding the reset switch with the stylus. Then release the power button When a screen appears, release the reset switch When initialization is completed, the Welcome screen appears. Set up the system according to the screen as in the case of startup procedure.

PDA e310, e330 or e740 together with Windows NT 4.0

The Toshiba Pocket PC's e310, e330 and e740 are designed to work together with Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Millennium, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Microsoft Windows NT4.0 is an older operating system, which does not work together with the Toshiba Pocket PC's e310,e330 and e740. Technical background: The Toshiba Pocket PC's have a USB and a Infrared interface to communicate with a Computer. Unfortunately, Microsoft Windows NT4.0 does not support USB nor Infrared. Windows NT supports a serial connection, but the serial interface is not available for the Pocket PC's e310,e330 and e740. Note: There is the possibility to synchronize a PDA over Network or Modem but the ActiveSync Software, which is responsible for the synchronization, will need a "first sync" to establish a "partnership" with the PDA. This "first sync" can only be done via USB.
