My t.v will power on, I can hear it but cannot see a picture. The red light blinks 10 times then it shuts off. Every once in a while I get lucky and it comes on if I keep turning it off and on but it's been days now and it's just not coming on anymore. I've read the other posts and it seems it could be the bulb but I don't know where to buy a bulb and don't know if it could be something else. I don't have money to waste trying to fix a bunch of different things. Any ideas on what the problem is and should I try to fix it or just junk it and get another cheap t.v?
Hello Mike
I don't know what else have you done with your TV. Yet, from the number of blinking code, I do understand that its video out board has the trouble. But, before going forward with you I want to know whether you are aware in electronics and have some experience in serivce TVs, and can follow the schematic diagrams, if I send it to you. If you aren't aware in electronics and cannot follow the circuit diagram of this set, there is no use of going forward. If you are confident, inform me. I'm ready to assist you. OK.

I get 5 blinking red lights for about a minute or so before it powers back down. The Sony TV has a specific light that i presume is supposed to light up when the bulb is out. I'm unsure if this is what it is.
no picture, no sound. tries to boot with green light blinking a few times. then goes to red blinking light, six in all, then waits a few moments, then another 6 blinking red light.
Bulb was already replaced several months ago but we do have the TV on for long periods of time.

There are three fans the one that usually fails is located on top of the optical block and cannot be reached by the owner unless you take the set apart yourself. What is happening is that one of the fans are not spinning fast enough or has stopped altogether. The best solution is to replace all three fans cleaning may not be enough to get a slow fan up to speed, and the tech should blow out the dust in the duct work. This is what the tech coming out will (or should) be doing. Also some fans will have an intermittent startup, and cause this intermittently, so it is a good idea just to replace the fans instead of just cleaning them.
