Ok, here is my next dilemma. I got the install disk and it gets to the
point of asking where I want to install windows. The only option is Disk 0 unallocated
space with 149 GIGs free. The 3 options I have are Refresh, load driver and
Drive options (advanced). What do I do from this point? It says that this computer's
hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's
controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu. I am stumped at what that
means.
This is weird cause you got to this point *In order to boot from CD it must be 1st boot in BIOS. Change and try again. *Choose Drive Options the next time and create a partition. Basically use the 149GB of space. Format and install. *Here is an example in Win 7, but the same principle applies to other versions of Windows.
Thanks for your prompt reply. I did check out the uTube video as well and I followed right along with it. However, when I tell it to format, I get the windows in unable to find a system volume that meets it criteria for installation. It will not let me click next or anything.

For the obvious, remove any CD's or USB drives 1st, and try again.
No? OK. Its trying to load and can't find a bootable hard drive, CD, or USB device. You need to go into BIOS by pressing an F key during boot. Look on the screen for correct Function key to press during boot. In BIOS make internal hard drive first boot. Save and restart.
If it was not listed in BIOS, physically reseat hard drive and check again.
sorry about that, I missed this comment. thing is the darn screen goes so fast, I cannot determine what function key to press. I am still trying though so bear with me. thanks again.
changed boot order to Notebook Hard Drive to boot from first. again just got a blank screen with blinking curser. I will reseat the hard drive now and try again as you suggested.
Ok, I did that with the HD. When the screen shows up under boot options all that is listed is cdrom, floppy boot which are both enabled. and internal network adaptor which is disabled. Is this where you are saying my hard drive should be listed? Under that shows boot order. when I open that it shows notebook hard drive, usb floppy, internal cddvd, diskette on key, usb hard drive and network adaptor with ! sign. Almost ready to just toss the darn thing and buy a new one. thanks again for your help and your patience with me as I am obviously not that good with the tech part.
