You will be needing to replace the timer assembly, which is the part that has all the wires attached and is found inside the top of the machine. It is what the dial is fastened to.
Be blessed.
check the door switch, when you open the door the dryer shouls stop, push in on the door switch and let it out,it should click when it pops out,if the switch broke pushed in it won't shut off.the part number is W10169313 and it's around 16 dollars,
I had the same problem. Here's a quick test you need to do. It will take two individuals (unless you're extremely talented) Open the dryer door and push in the door switch... and hold it in. Have the other person push on (and hold) the start button on the console. At that same time everyone is pushing the switches take a free hand and reach into the dryer and try to spin it. Sometimes just a little push (assistance) is all it takes and..... bingo the dryer starts up! If that's the case... your motor is on its way out or it's gone. Usually due to the bearings on the motor being badly worn.
The element issue could be a contact fused shut.
With both problems I would be looking for wires melted together, or a relay/sequencer welded shut melted etc.
You do have a potential fire hazzard here. If after removing the panel you cannot locate the problem, do not run the unit.
There should be a timer motor on the timer. That is most likely burnt out and will cause the timer to not shut down. Just replace the timer and that will solve the problem
