My screen is blank on all modes except playback and setup
My screen goes blank on all modes.all black though i do get the menus.if i want to see the pictures i have already taken,i can still see them but the minute i try to change the mode its black again.the start up screen still does come on so i know it isnt a problem with the lcd screen.have tried changing all possible settings with no solution.please help! i'm on holiday and my camera isnt working!
If you can playback captured images ok but in capture mode your screen goes blank and taken shots are black then the CCD sensor in your camera is faulty and has to be replaced. Nikon agent -if you can find one- will do this for you but it may be uneconomical repair on this entry level model.

I wish I could solve as I have the same problem. The LCD shows the menus settings but does no display the picture image - same whether in camera mode or playback mode. Please help.

HI,
It's impossible to turn the camera off. Only way is take out the battery.
No button warks, but I can change the shooting mode and turn playback, but I can't change the image in playback mode.
Please, help me to solve this problem.
I think, the camera needs to be restarted, but how to do that?
Thanks a lot.
The position from the dial wheel is not corresponding with the electrical position. If you can do it by yourself you can adjust it and tighten the midscrew from the dialwheel
I have a sony cybershot DSC-S650, the LCD was very dark and could not
see anything except if I pointed it at a bright object, everything else
worked ok. I could take pictures but could barely see them in playback
as well.
I took it to Sony authorised repair outlet and was told
the CCD was damaged, they charged me USD $55 to repair it (in Quito,
Ecuador)
Symptoms of a Bad Video Driver Monitor Resolution issues: screen flickers, screen is
cloudy, screen shows horizontal lines, screen goes black, goes blank,
goes into sleep mode, goes into power mode, size magnifies or reduces,
video is jittery, fonts change, screensaver will not appear, cannot
extend display on dual monitors.
Your camera has a defective CCD imager. Please return the camera to Canon in New Jersey and they will replace the CCD at no charge to you.
This is a known issue and should be covered under extended warranty.
Good luck my friend.
