I have a lexar 1gb jumpdrive. found in my old computer bag. all i want to do is delete files that are on it. and start over. how do i do this?

You're looking for the option to "Format" the flash drive. Plug it in to your computer, and depending on the operating system, you're going to click Start > My Computer or Compute > Then right click on the Flash Drive, it should be listed on the left hand side of the screen. Find the Format option and select it. That should delete all of the files.

I was transferring pics from my Nikon Coolpix S210 via Nikon transfer. Pressed the deleted icon, and photo's were deleted instantly. Tried to retreive them using a download from the internet, but no joy....

Without being harsh or rude don't do anything to that memory card but take it to someone who has the proper recovery program. There is a chance as long as you haven't formatted the memory card and started shooting new images over the ones you want to retrieve. There are a lot of recovery programs on the Internet but most are for specific memory cards.

I use Lexar memory card because I know the photo Lab I use has recovery programs for Lexar and SanDisk. Some off brand or no name memory cards may be more difficult to extract the data from.

To answer your question "What am I doing wrong" you aren't doing anything wrong except not having the correct retrieval program.

Sorry I know this isn't a quick fix but it's the best way of saving those images.

Put new lexar sdhc 4GB memory card in my canon sd550 and get card locked. moved tab to both positions but same error message. do i need to return this card?

see if their might be some photos or file saved that you may have edited on the card maybe Microsoft visual studio's photo shop save to hard drive. delete with photo software and format put in camera format again. if it works with computer and not with the camera not compatible try another card

Lexar USB

Yes. Connect it to your computer, then click my computer. You will see your drive listed among the hard drives. Make sure you select the right one (it should say removable drive or Lexar USB) right click it & select format. All files are deleted & the drive is reformatted & ready to use.
