I used this same procedure^on a different model. The number is entered via remote control pointing to the unit. after entering the right code, there should be a secret menu that will appear when you press setup , mine appeared as preference. On this menu, you can find the region. You can fiddle around, you cannot destroy the unit. The info is here: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/amw-v99/3349 maybe you can read what the other people have done.

Multi region hack for LG

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
1. Switching Regions o 1
Turn on your DVD player.
o 2
Open the DVD player's main drive, also commonly called the DVD "tray." The region cannot be changed while a DVD is in the machine, so many DVD players require the tray to be open as an extra precaution.

o
3 Push "Info" or "Setup" on your remote.
o 4
Use the remote to select the "Region" option as indicated on your TV screen.
o 5
Select "Region 9" to change the system to multiregion formatting. Regions 1 through 8 represent specific geographic locations and will not allow multiregion playback.

Unit model D-C350/XSA only opens region 4 need to also to open region 2 DVD's

Hi there,

When I was with Samsung NZ, the following was how we multizoned our DVD (Region 4) players:
1. Turn on your player, but ensure no disc in machine - screen should show "No Disc"
2. Turn on your TV and select your DVD input (as if you were to watch your DVD).

Using your factory supplied remote, press the following buttons:

3. Press the Repeat (or Repeat A-B) button
4. Press the following button sequence: 7, 6, 8, 8, 4, 9 (you should see the number '9' appear on screen - this means 'Region Free').
5. Press the Open/Close button (to open the tray)
6. Press the Open/Close button again (to close the tray)
7. Press Power OFF (to shut down your DVD player)
8. Press Power ON (to turn on your DVD player)
9. Insert Region 2 disc and wait (up to 1min) for firmware to respond and read your disc

If this fails, try procedure again, except for Step 4: change the last number (instead of 9) to '2'.

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers,

Scott

I have a AMW V99 DVD Player and do not how to use it. Need help. I do not have the manual or original remote.

AMW V99 DVD Video Player with Remote

Region code hack posted by TR, December 19 2003:
This seems to work for the AMW V99 ($19 in after Thanksgiving sale at Best Buy)

1) turn on the dvd
2) open the tray
3) enter 9735
4) change the region code to 0
5) exit to main menu
6) password 8888

Best $19 I ever spent! (Bestbuy)

Futher confirmation the 9735 hack DOES work. Also gives options to adjust rating (I assume to control the maximum rating of DVDs allowed) and a PASSWORD option, I'm not sure what this is for. I performed the hack with the tray both OPEN and CLOSED.

Other hack posted by trickypuss, January 14 2004:
Dunno if anyone else has tried this, but I put a backup dvd created with DVDXCopy into my V99 after using the region-free hack mentioned above. It asked me to input my password (default is 8888) and then the movie begins playing off the dvd-r. Password is input with the remote, and there's no confirmation. Just banged out 8888 and pressed play. Previously it would just sit there when I put in the disk without asking for password or anything. Neato. So this explains one use for the password function.

AMW S99 / V99
  1. Turn on the player (disc tray has to be empty)
  2. Open the disc tray
  3. Press 9, 7, 3, 5 (or 8, 5, 6, 1)
  4. Select region (0 = multi-region)
  5. Close the disc tray

WRONG Region error . Philips DVD65K

Each DVD player is designed only to read discs froma certian region of the globe, and they are labelled 1 through 6 (or ALL). Australian players are designed only to play Region 4 discs. United States discs are Region 1. It is illegal to change the Region code on a DVD player, so I can't tell you how to do it (ironically, it is the most frequently asked question about dvd players on Fixya.com - global world), but there are videos on YouTube that will show you how to do it - I would just enter "philips region code dvd" as your seacrh term. You won't find that exact model, but one of the codes in the video should work. Note that you will only be able to change the region code three times on a Philips - after that you will be locked out. So change it to Region 1 once, and never change it again.

2. Enter the code 98790 on the remote and press Ok. The 0 on the end is the region. Eg to change it back to a region follow step 1 and enter the code 98794. 4 being the region code in this example.

DVD schizo color

This could be a symptom of a board error, but before you get too close to the bin, check the cable connections. If you are using scart leads, they can sometimes come adrift at one end or other through thermal expansion and contraction. Make sure they are secured fully. You could also try changing the connection point on the TV if you have a spare, just to prove the input channel is OK.
