SOURCE: creative zen

After three months of trying and trying in many computers, following many, many procedures found all over the Internet, my Creative Nomad has accepted the firmware and has borned again.
What I did?
1. Connected the Nomad on a computer with Windows XP and Windows Media Player 9, that never has been touched by a creaive device.
It recognizes the device but can´t find any update to the drivers,
2. Updated Windows Media Player 9 to Windows Media Player 10,
3. Restart the computer
4. Connect the Nomad and the computer recognizes the device and autamtically search and found updated MPT drivers.
5. Run the firmware update program "ZenXtraP4SAudible_PCFW_LB_2_10_03 (Creative Zen Xtra PlaysForSure Firmware 2.10.03)"
6. Finally the magic button always has been disabled was enabled so start reloading firmware.
And now the Nomad is working in windows vista.

The difference between the computer where the firmware works and the others is that this has never had media player 10 or 11 and never has installed creative drivers.
Hope this can be useful to smoeone, somewhere, sometime.....

SOURCE: My Creative Zen Touch is frozen. When I hold down

I would run the recovery console from the player itself. Make sure the Touch's power supply is plugged in (and unplugged from a PC) then to access the recovery mode of the Touch, hold down the Play/Pause button while inserting a straightened paper clip into the reset hole on your player, give it about five seconds then remove the paper clip.
Next, keep on holding the Play/Pause button until the Rescue Mode screen appears. After you see the rescue mode menu, you can release the play/pause button.
I would try a "clean up" first, as this is less intrusive and will not erase data.

SOURCE: problem with creative zen installation, creative

The audio is great. The resolution is good as well. The mic recording feature is horrible. No way to control input levels so you get an over modulated recording. I put movies on an SDHC card. Convert movies with Magic DVD ripper. Several options on this software to convert almost any format for a player. The big problem is after a while of careful usage it stops. I got a white screen and the reset did not work. I tried all sorts of ways to restart. I held the play/pause and hit the power and it went into a "repair" menu. I was being guided by a Creative tech. Did not work. Tried the same again to re-format (at risk of losing all) and nothing. I used the reset but a lot and no good results. I wrote to the tech support people and they all told me the same thing over and over. Then I say many people on FixYa.com with the same problem. Why is this happening to so many people. Chairman and CEO Sim Wong Hoo needs to get a letter. Correction...a lot of letters. Here is a link to the Creative Mediasource software for the Zen Nomad http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=8183

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click agree. This will start the download. Then run the program on your computer and you should be able to manage your Zen with this software. Let me know if it works.

I need help in downloading music to my MP3 player. I have a Creative Zen Vplus

Hi
According to Creative Labs, you should either be using the Creative Media Explorer if you are new to MP3 and WMA ripping and want to build up a library or prefer to manage your Zen player as a removable disk drive, or using the Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer if you "frequently need to playback or organize music in your computer".
The Zen player can handle three primary types of audio files too, the common MP3 format, WMA format and the more unusual WAV format. It's quite likely that your existing audio files are in one of these formats, probably WMA if you've been using Windows Media Player to rip your CDs. If you've purchased your music, it'll be in WMA DRM, that is, a version of the WMA format that includes digital rights management (so you can't just email a copy of the audio file to your pals once you've purchased and downloaded it). Those can play on the Creative Zen too, fortunately.
To actually hook up your Creative Zen MP3 player to your computer, you'll need the included USB cable, which should connect as shown in this spiffo Creative illustration:
http://www.askdavetaylor.com/0-blog-pics/creative-zen-audio-usb.png (chek the above figure)
Once you've hooked it up, the Zen unit should automatically go into USB connection mode (wouldn't be very zen-like if it didn't!) and then you should be able to find the device by opening up My Computer on your desktop.
When you really dig into the Zen user's guides, you'll find that they recommend Creative Media Explorer for transfering audio files: just click on the "Import Media" button in the application, find the MP3, WAV or WMA files already on your computer, and it should be easy to then copy them onto the player.
That should get you going.

Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Extra

Whirring noise = bad, probably needs to be replaced, BUT:
Uninstall everything from your PC, reboot, reinstall driver and the Explorer (I do not use MediaSource, only the Explorer).

If it didn't work out follow these steps:

1. Uninstall Creative Media Source and all related software.
2. Install the driver. In the installation CD the driver is usually in \Drivers\English
3. Turn on the Nomad an connect it to the PC.
4. Install MediaSource(the program requires that you have the nomad connected while installing)
5. Install MediaSource plugin
6. Try transferring files.

If you?re still running into problem know that there are other programs capable of handling MediaSource?s functions, such as - Portable Audio Devices Power Toy , NomadSync, Real player, and there?s also a Zen plugin for the Winamp.

Good luck!

My Zen Micro

Go here: Creative.com -->Support -->Downloads -->Select appropriate information -->All Under the Drivers section, download 2.01.00 Under the applications section, download 9. Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.21 Or I could just email you the drivers. I have a Zen Micro myself and have the CD also. Or, you can just bypass the need for software if you are willing to use Windows Media Player 10 or 11 to transfer songs to your Zen. You can do this by upgrading the firmware to version 2.21.02. Same location as I mentioned above.
