I think my air flow sensor might be the problem. This unit is only a couple years old and in excellent shape. No broken thin wires or anything. I cleaned all the contacts also. But the top panel is butted up to the heater. I would have to take it completely out to check the sensor. It might come down to that.

MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CELL(S) ARE CLEAN ... CLOSELY INSPECT TO SEE THAT THERE ARE NO BROKEN IONIZING WIRES (THE SMAAL STAINLESS-STEEL WIRES THAT ARE BETWEEN THE COLLECTOR PLATES). MAKE SURE POWER GOING INTO UNIT TO IS "OFF"!!! ... NOT JUST THE SWITCH ON THE UNIT. THEN TRY THE FOLLOWING: THIS AIR-CLEANER THAS A AIR-FLOW SENSOR THAT SOMETIMES GETS CLOGGED ... IT IS INSIDE THE TOP CONTROL PANEL. THERE SHOULD BE A DIAGRAM UNDER THE CONTROL BOX COVER PLATE TO ASSIST YOU LOCATING THAT SENSOR. MAKE SURE IT IS CLEAN. THE HIGH-VOLTAGE TRANSFORMER BEING BAD USEUALLY WILL SMELL LIKE BURNT WIRING. AND WILL LOOK BURNT. MAKE SURE YOU SEE NO LOSE WIRES ... SOME TIMES THE SPARK-PLUG LOOKING WIRE GOING TO THE CELL(S) CAN BURN OFF ITS CONNECTOR. YOU CAN CHECK THE DOOR SAFETY SWITCH TO MAKE SURE IT IS MAKING CONTACT WHEN HANDLE IS PROPERLY CLOSED. GOOD LUCK ... HOPE YOU HERE THAT ZAPPING SOON ... BY THE WAY ... IF YOU GET A POWER LIT ON ... GIVE THE RETURN-AIR DUCT A SLIGHT BANG ... IF IT IS WORHING IT SHOULD SNAP CRACKLE AND POP FOR A FEW SECONDS. MAKE SURE YOU SEE NOTHING (HAIR?) LYING ACROSS THE PLATES OR IOMIZING WIRES ON EACH CELL IF YOURS HAS TWO. ELECTRIC AIR CLEANERS ARE ONLY GOOD WHEN THEY ARE KEPT CLEAN ... PET HAIR IS A CONSTANT MAITENCE PROBLEM AND CELLS SHOULD BE LEANED EVERY TWO WEEKS. FOR BEST PERFOMANCE. We are smelling too much ozone from a F300E 1001, help! thanks, colin

Hi,
The easiest way to lower that is to place it on a timer so that it does not run so much... other then that you have a unit that is too big for the area of space that you have and you really need a smaller unit...

so just limit the run time...

F300e filter clicking

You may have a large particle of debris trapped or one of the cell plates is bent and too close to one another.

Ozone smell

When the unit is clean it will produce more ozone. If the unit is a bit oversized then it becomes worse. As an installer I have to be carefull to not oversize these units. O3 is harmless and actually will only stay in the air as O3 for about 1/2 hour. Because of this it will not build up in the air. O3 also in a powerful disinfectant and will help kill mold and bacteria in the air. As soon as the filter gets a little bit of dust on it the O3 production will become much less. Run your fan continuously for a day or so and it will go away.

I have the enviracaire f300e 1001 in a house i just bought. i cleaned the filters. whenever the furnace turns on a buzzing comes from the unit. is this normal? the thermostat also flashes "filter".

Sounds like the filter is damaged or has bent fins.Make sure all the fins are not touching eachother, or they will arch and keep buzzing and flashing. Also there is a wire on the incoming air side of the filter(between each fin) to precharge the particales entering the filter .make sure the wires are not broken.good luck--Nate

Can't get the Honeywell F300e EAC back together.

there is a plastic cell key that keeps you from putting the cells in backwards. Simply reverse the cells and they should slide in fine.
I/O is the power switch, I think O is off.

Last night for the first time the machine is emitting a gaseous smelling odor. At first we thought it was coming from the house, electrical or outside. Not finding anything which would generate this...

The odor is trace amounts of ozone. I hate the smell myself, some people love it. Most common cause is a short in the cells. Can you hear any arcing noises?

Did you clean it recently. The ozone can be reduced by making a change in the power head. What is the model number and date code........Should be like, F300Aor E1625, The date code is a four digit numbe like.....0904. Both can be found on the back of the aircleaner door.

Honeywell F300E not cleaning air.

A newly installed system should still be under the contractor's labor warranty. Call them and ask them to come out to check on the unit and explain what you wrote above. This should cost you nothing and is the best way to get to the bottom of the problem.
