Screen does not maximise automatically

For the past 4 months the image on my monitor does not maximise. Everytime I start up my computer, the image size on the 17" screen is about the size of a 12". I have to use the resize buttons on the monitor to resize the image to fit the screen. This does not only happen on restarting but also when comming out of a game, after maximising the windows media player screen or any other 'intensive' graphics program. I have tried the monitor on various other computers and the same thing happens with exactly the same screen size. If I plug in another monitor into my computer it works fine. Sometimes on startup the monitor is totally blank. I then have to connect the monitor to another computer. It starts to work (screen image smaller ofcourse), and then when I reconnect to my present computer it starts to work, again with the smaller screen image size. The problem started when I sent in my computer to a dealer who installed a new modem for me. I only sent the motherboard case and not the monitor. Please help.

Reinstall the driver for your monitor or adjust the resolution in the desktop properties

  • Anonymous Jul 10, 2007

obviously the problem is in the monitor, but the cuestion is ¿can you adjust the width or not? if you can't you have an electronic problem (EP),if you can the monitor can't memorize this "New Value"(another EP).in the first case will be an open cap,or transistor.but in the second case maybe micro, eeprom. good luck

Why does my Sony Google TV NSX-46GT1 46 in. HDTV LCD TV powers up, displays application screen on bottom, makes a computer chime and shuts off completely, and starts the same process over and over aga

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

Today I noticed that when turning on computer, after 1-2 mins the screen goe black and I cant see anything. I noticed in the past month that occasionaly I get lightening flashes in the background. this...

To determine if the LCD screen is faulty ot the video card, connect an external monitor to the laptop's video port. Power up the external monitor first and the boot up the laptop. The video image should automatically switch to the external monitor. If you don't get flashes on the monitor then the video card is OK and the fault lies with the LCD screen. Flashes coud be caused by a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. A fault is usually easier to diagnose when it is not intermitten.

Solution

Follow these steps in the order presented to resolve the issue.

Step one: Verify that the Digital Imaging Monitor is ready

The Digital Imaging Monitor must be running in order for the Scan To function to work. The Digital Imaging Monitor icon normally appears in the system tray at the lower-right corner of the computer screen, and the monitor is ready when a check mark appears on the icon after Startup is complete.

If the Digital Imaging Monitor is in the system tray, proceed to Step two.

If the Digital Imaging Monitor does not appear in the system tray, follow these steps.
Windows 98, Me, and XP

1.Click Start , and then click Run .
2.In the Open text box, type msconfig .
3.Click OK .
4.In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
5.Search the list for HP Digital Imaging Monitor .
6.If HP Digital Imaging Monitor is not on the list, the driver was not correctly installed or a custom install was used. 7.Proceed to step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.
8.Select the HP Digital Imaging Monitor check box.
9.Click Apply , and then click Close .
10.Click Yes to restart.

Windows Vista

8.Select the HP Digital Imaging Monitor check box.
9.Click Apply , and then click Close .
10.Click Yes to restart.

Step two: Populate the destination list

1.The destination list must be populated in order for the Scan To function to work. Follow these steps to populate the destination list.
2.Open the HP Solution Center. Use one of the following methods to open the HP Solution Center.
3.On the Windows desktop, double-click the HP Solution Center icon.
4.On the taskbar, click Start , Programs , or All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center .

9.Click the Destination List tab.

NOTE: Depending on the computer performance, it can take several minutes for the Front Panel Destination List to populate after the printer or computer is turned on.

10.If the Front Panel Destination List is empty, continue with this procedure.
11.If the Front Panel Destination List contains valid scan destinations, proceed to step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.
12.Click each program to include on the Scan To list.
13.Click the Add arrow.
14.Click OK .

2.If the software installer does not automatically start, complete the following steps.
3.Click Start , and then click Run .
4.In the Open text box, type X:\setup , where X is the letter of the CD-ROM drive.

7.Insert the software CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer. The software installer should automatically start.
8.If the model supports custom install, install HP Imaging Device Functions to scan from the printer. The recommended install will install this feature automatically. It must be manually selected during a custom install.
9.Follow the onscreen instructions until the printer software is completely installed.

Monitor randomly shuts off and computer restarts

After you turned it on and the screen shut off, check the image on the screen by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a look very closely. If you can see the icons or any image, there will be a minor problem. This is because of the lamps inside screen. Some of them were broken and it is very easy to replace. If you cannot see anything on the screen, there'll be some problems with inverter board. If the computer shut down immediately after the monitor shut off, it might be because of fault operating system. Check with another monitor.

Screen Flickering on Acer 3680-2682

Ok we must remember when we setup any device on our PC, one of the many non PnP devices is and LCD Monitor, your PC should always be shutdown before installing a new Monitor. If you did not do this you could have damaged the I/O port on your PC. Not a definite, but possible! When you plug up a monitor or any serial cable while the PC is still on, it is of a low voltage which can casue some issues for you! Sounds like this one is yours!
