Benwin 5.1 surround sound system Humming loudly without anything pluged into it!!!

I have none of the other speakers plugged in and it doesn't matter if they are or not but i get this very loud humming noise from the main sub unit whether or not i have input cables in it. I have tried turning down volume and plugging it into different outlets but still nothing.

It is sad your having a problem with your
Benwin 5.1 surround sound system
If humming can be heard on all speakers, then it could probably

be on the power supply.

If it is only on the main SUB unit, then it could be the amp itself.

But check for power supply capacitors that supplies voltages to the

amps.Check for amp output DC voltages too.

It is merely degradation of the connection. Try unconnecting the speakers, cleaning the tips a bit, replacing them in, removing, recleaning, and then replacing a final time. This should get some scoring off of the connection... Aside from this, a new set of speaker wire is the best solution but just let me know what you decide on! Hope this helps!

I would imagine that your system has a fan installed to ensure the device does not overheat.

If this is a new device I would call the place your purchased it from and enquire if this is normal.... As there could be a fault with the fan or the temperature sensor.

If this is an old unit its possible that dust has covered the insides of the device and has caused the temperature to rise, thus causing the fan to spin quicker to attempt to lower the temperature. I would recommend taking it to an authorized repairer in your location to have them perform a clean / service.

Klh powered subwoofer model ASW10-120B... when you plug in to power... it makes a loud buzzing/humming noise

I would check the caps on the power supply. They are rather large electrolytic capacitors that will look like they burst and/or leaking. When these die, the caps ground and the sub will make a loud buzzing sound. If you are handy with a soldering iron you can replace them yourself. Replace them with the same voltage or a little bigger and same with the size.

If the cap. says 16v 4700pF on it, for example, a 20v 5300pF or a 16v 6200mF cap. will work for this application.

Good morning misstcomer ,

If they are standard connections , you will find all you need in any Radio Shack or similar shop .
If they are of a specific type , you will need to find a recognized Benwin retailer . You can find one by Googleling Benwin .

Mine did the same thing then I found the solution by accident. After reading a post about moving the sub to different positions and making sure connections were tight to the sub , I loosened the right speaker connection screws to the sub and noticed the humming stopped completely . I know it sounds crazy but it worked for me.

Did you try changing the front & center speakers to a higher level as well as setting the surrounds to a lower level? Are all speakers using the same wire gage?

You should be able to plug them into your sound card. If an adapter is needed, they can be found at almost any electronics store.

I'm having trouble with sound when i try and install a surround sound system. This is the second system I've had that my lg would not play sound

Firstly you must have the remote typically to set the speakers up or there is a combination of keys to do this but usually some functions cannot be changed without the remote.
Second, the surround sound playback can only be played if the sound that you are listening to has the surround sound track, otherwise you may not hear hardly anything when your device is set to the wrong function.

The speakers must also match the surround sound system otherwise you may not hear anything at all.
Remember: A 5.1 System is 5-speakers,   A 7.1 system is 7 speakers!

The speakers should be marked for which place they belong LF= Left,Front...etc.

Stopped working

Speakers wire conductors should not touch anything but the points on the amp and one speaker terminal each. Look again.
