I've had my sony KP-51HW40 now TV for 6 years without a problem. It recently went grossly out of allignment (of so it seems). The image looks like a 3D immage (without the glasses on). It does appear that all of the CRTs are working. The flash allignment function does not help.
Any suggestions how to re-align ? ? If I call min a pro. any thoughts on what this repair should cast ? ?
Thanks in advance

Re: KP-51HW40 - Picture not Clear
Your problem is a typical convergence problem that happens on almost every tube type projection TV set ever built. There are two Convergence amp IC's that need to be replaced. If you have no TV repair experience, play it safe and call in a pro to assist you in this. Good Luck

Are you sure you didn't turn the knob too far down? Just a though. I don't know off hand which one is the D board but the boards are marked. Please be careful when working on TV sets as they produce high voltage which may reside even while the sets is unplugged. Also I would do more research on this problem before purchasing a new D board. I have been told that the picture tubes in these sets go bad. G what a bummer guess what set I own :( Here is the code for 8 blinks, it looks like you may just have to replace a part on the D board.
8 times, Diagnosis: High voltage error. Possible cause: T8005 is faulty. (D board)
I hope this helps, keep in mind its hard to diagnose issues without actually being there.
I had the same problem. i was told by one of these so-called experts @ fixya that my flyback transformer needed to be replaced (the 8 blinks on the standby was the indicator). but i recently replaced it and im having the same problem. sorry. no advice. good luck.
if you are using a cable box or satellite, make sure those are also set to full mode..If tv only receives normal (16:9) etcc..then it will only display that..moset sources nowadays also have a picture mode ...
How is this distorted? Does DVD only have Video/Audio jacks or do it have RF output connection and if so have you tried going inset that way? How does it looks with only Dvd Logo on? If Logo is ok then I would look for some other problem.
without seeing a picture I can guess that you may have a shorted green crt or the drive going to it has changed and you may need to turn down the g2 control for the green. If the tube is shorted or bad see what type of warrantee you have on the crts as some sets have two to 5 years. Good Luck
