Sorry for the delay responding. Info comes from http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Laptop_Repair/message/646 Joe K Sony Vaio Hi Joe I have a unit now with the MBX 49 board that is totally dead does not charge battery or work from a known charged battery. The small fuse at the rear F2801 is OK, 19V on input to Q2803 nothing out from one that I worked on earlier I noted that this should have 19 on the output. This is a fet and is not being swithed on as the gate is also at 19V not pulled low as for P channel fet. Gsxr Nutter,

I?ve worked on a few Viao?s in the past and haven?t run into a motherboard fuse nor have I seen any references elsewhere. That doesn?t mean there isn?t one, just means I can?t find any reference to one.

Can you actually see a fuse on your board or are you having problems powering up your laptop? If it?s the latter laptop power issues are more typically related to the AC adaptor, the power socket/plug. Let us know..

Sony pcg 9h4l motherboard issue

Hi,

Try to power off unit and remove the battery. Then press and hold power button for 30seconds.Put the battery back and turn it on. If it turns on turn it back off again and remove the battery. Connect your VAIO using the AC adapter only. If this will not resolve your issue you can check this with SONY or any certified service center.

Sony Vaio PCG-FX150

The noise you can here are probably the platlettes or parking head that are present inside the harddrive. Dropping the notebook would more than likely of damaged the harddrive more than any other peice of hardware.
