Question about JVC 20GB Everio GSeries HDD Digital Camcorder
Hi, my Everio GZ-MG26EK HDD camcorder is great....only trouble I have a problem getting the movie from the camera to a disc. I have a Fujitsu Amilo notebook which has a burner. I can download the cameras contents to this but am experiencing problems trying to burn a disc. Many hours spent on trying!! I am not a 'techi' so any suggestions please use plain English. regards, shiner.
If the format of those files recorded by the camera is familiar with the ones we regularly use our computers, I suggest that you connect your camera to your computer, then go to "My Computer", look for your camera which is seen as a storage device in the list of other devices connected to the computer. Right click on it, find "Open" then see what's stored in it.

Ok. Those files you mentioned are coded in a special order in your SD Card or the HDD of your camera. If you give proper names that you can easily remember while recording videos, then you can activate the "Search" function in the relevant folder on your computer in order to pick them easily before the burning process.
This is additional info fromhttp://reviews.cnet.com/JVC_Everio_GZ_MG...
Check out the web page given above, especially the Workflow Solution part of the article.
But, at least we've learned that the camera saves the data in a .MOD file which is an MPEG-2 codec. This is fine for direct transfer to DVD.

Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
Here's a link to this great service
Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply. I have done as you suggested and found in SD-VIDEO 2 x files named: PRG001 & PRG002. In the PRG001 there is: MOV00A / MOV00A.MOI / MOV00B / MOV00B.MOI etc etc. up to MOV064.M01. The last in the list is different PRG001.PGI
The second PRG002 is similar, the last file named PRG002.PGI
What do I need to do now?
Thanks, shiner.
Hi, thanks again for the clear explanation. I will give it a go tonight. I am guessing but I suppose I need to re-name all the files with 'proper names'.
I will report on my progress tomorrow.
Really appreciate the help.
Thanks,

Any ideas?
