Printer does not recognize my canon scanner D1250U2F
I recently installed new printer (8250) and now scanner will not "copy and print documents". I have updated drivers on scanner as well as for printer.
My previous printer, also HP photosmart 7760 never had this problem, i was able to use all functions of scanner. and now
It seems that printer doesn't recognize new printer. I have uninstalled both scanner and new printer and again reinstalled. Problem still remains. Any suggestions?
I HAVE CONTACTED HP...THEY HAVE YET TO RESPOND TO MY REQUESTS..ALL 24 OF THEM. AS FOR THE TRYING THE OLD SOFTWARE FROM OLD PRINTER...GOOD TRY...BUT THAT SOFTWARE DOESN'T WORK WITH 8250.
THANKS FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE ANYWAY..IT IS APPRECIATED.I HAVE CONTACTED HP...THEY HAVE YET TO RESPOND TO MY REQUESTS..ALL 24 OF THEM.

in regard toyour questions.. yes, all old software for older 7760 printer was removed prior to installing new printer & software.
No i have not upgrade to vista. I am running xp home edition SP2 this has not changed for either printer.
Again..i appreciate your assistance. Thanks so muchin regard toyour questions..

Thanks again Jackboy...this is what i ended up doing saving it as image to desktop and printing the saved image. I just thought how strange that the scanner would no longer work with new printer..especially since it worked with older HP printer. your diligence in trying to resolve my problem is deeply appreciated...and if by chance i ever hear from HP regarding this issue..i certainly will let you know.

Re:
Check HP tech help re this- obviously if the previous HP worked and now the new one does not then there has been a change.
If you still have the old printer disk or software.
try reloading that and see if the new printer will operate through it
Some aspect of this you seem not to have made clear. 1. -did you uninstall all the old printer software before installing the new printer software?
2. Have you upgraded your computer? Is it now Vista or was the older machine operating on say 98 and the new printer is XP.Some aspect of this you seem not to have made clear.

when a scanner copies a document the result is a JPEG or BITMAP file. It is an image. So ignore the scanner to print routine. Simply set the scanner to copy to desk top or a designated folder. Then when all copying is done set up your image editor to print the saved images. Evidentally it seems some subtle changes has taken place between the two printers and the supplied software.when a scanner copies a document the result is a JPEG or BITMAP file.

If it is USB and the device is not recognized in control panel, then there is no power to the system. The cool white fluorescent tubes used in scanners only last approximately one year. Other parts may last about the same time. It's time to change the scanner. It's too costly to change the power unit inside the scanner.
Instead of pressing the start button to print, you need to press the small ON/OFF button. The start button works to copy/scan. But to print, you will need to turn the printer on first. Once the printer is on, the computer should recognize it fine and allow you to print from your applications.
I think you need to reinstall your printer driver again.. first you need to uninstall existing printer driver ..and restart your computer ...and then reinstall you printer driver..
why you need to reinstall?
because the printing application for the printer has been corrupt or missing..only the copy and scan application is running properly..
that's why it only scan and copy..but not print some document..
Yes ... provided it is configured with the necessary Vista driver(s).
This particular model appears to have been first sold before the release of Windows Vista, therefore yours may, or may not, have the Vista drivers installed.
Connecting a non HP scanner[Canon] to the printer may be a software mod on the printer so that it will only work with HP devices.
The only way round that if this is the case is to work through a third party software[image editor]
This is a compatibility issue between the Copy function of Toolbox and the specific HP printer driver. The only work-around would be to scan your image and save it, then print it from another application. One other possibility would be to get Toolbox version 2.2.x from the N650U scanner download page. This version will be limited in functionality, but COPY button should function as expected.
My new printer is HP photosmart 8250; my scanner is canon D1250U2F
