This is what happend to my ht-x30. I opend it up, and fixed it. 2 capacitors were burned out. replaced them, and turned the fan around, so it blows air inside the cabinet....

I think you hold down the stop button on the player for like 8 seconds or something while the player is off. that is suppossed to reset it.

It keeps on wanting to shut off like it is overheating but yet it is not hot...(Samsung DVD home theater system HT-TX72)

Check you speaker connection first and make sure none of the wires are touching another terminal. The unit might be going into protect mode. If so it should display the words protect on the display before shuting down. Try removing one speaker at a time while turning on the unit after each speaker is removed at a time, to see if it shuts down on you. When and if it stays on then the previous speaker you took off is defective.. If none of this works then you might have a bad Preamp circuit or main amplifier output problem. Disconnect everything from the unit and turn it on, to see if it shuts down on its own, if so then there is a problem with the internal parts of the unit itself.

Toshiba sd-kt50 dvd player turn on open/close hello appears protection appears and goodbye comes up turns it self off. we had two second power offs not associated with a storm

the sudden power cut-off can either blow the fuse or corrupt the system of DVDs.but, some DVDs has protection for this occurrence.try not to use it for sometime.then if it's well rested try turning it on see if is resets it's protection circuit.if not, a new unit or call a technician for it.

The system or DVD recorder turns off itself

It could be because your unit is overheating. Shutting itself off is your player's way of protecting itself. Causes can be form anything to direct exposure to sunlight, Something heavy is on top of the player, to disk speed being to fast.

Brand new avr588 receiver is turned on....is on for five seconds and then cuts off to standby

Hi donnie025,

I can't believe you haven't received an answer before now.

The red flashing light normally indicates that the protection circuit has been tripped. It can be caused by something as simple as a short in a speaker wire. Even if there is one strand of loose wire that makes contact with the back of the receiver, another wire, etc. it can cause a short. To protect itself the receiver will simply shut down.

1st. I would suggest disconnecting all the speaker wires from the back of the receiver. Then turn on the receiver (obviously you won't hear any sound) and see if the receiver does the same thing. If it does you should try disconnecting all of the source components (DVD player, Cable box etc.) and try again. If it still does it the receiver is bad and needs to be serviced or exchanged if you still can.

2nd. If the receiver stays on after you disconnect, then turn off the receiver and connect one speaker at a time, then power on the receiver at test it after connecting each speaker. This way if it suddenly shuts down after connecting a speaker you know which speaker or wire to check.

Let me know how it works out for you, I hope this helps if you haven't figured it out already.

DVD player/recorder not working at all

Unplug for atleast 15min and turn back on, if this doesn't work you will have to take top off and get a small philips screwdriver and take of carriage on top of tray and manually take disc out and find out what is causing the problem. If the reset does not get it.
